Yula, or short-tailed shearwaters as they're called in English, travel one of the world's longest annual migrations.

Travelling the Pacific Ocean, even down into the icy Antarctic Southern Ocean, they return home each year to the islands around Lutruwita/Tasmania to rest after their journeys and raise their young.

The listeners are greeted on a coastal headland ‘Ganaygal’. They are led into a guided meditation into deep time, to the ancient world, where the Ancestors harvest the coastal fish traps under the blue moon and the ‘Gurruuja’, the whales, sing of the Ancestral Country now underneath the ocean.

Dedicated to the Gumbaynggirr Elders who held onto our Creation stories and have nurtured our abilities to deeply connect with Country, the Ancestors and Place through stories, knowledge, and language. Ngayu Kaminji Dungayn Jukaranga is a story capturing the moment Trinity began spending time with her Nannies, asking them to teach her their language. It celebrates their cherished days at the beach - learning about local plants, animals and Country, speaking language, hunting traditional foods, and continuing the rich cultural practices that "ngananga bama" (our people) have carried on for thousands of years.

Through storytelling, Woiwurrung language, and sound, participants reconnect with Country, spirit, and kinship, experiencing an intimate ceremony of healing, belonging, and the ancient wisdom of Wurundjeri culture.

Nayuka Gorrie shares a reflective story from interactions between the sun and moon, to stars Ancestors have seen and descendants will see; to sensory observations from the warmth of a fire built by their family, to the sounds of birds chirping, frogs croaking and insects humming.

Nayuka Gorrie is a Gunai/Kurnai, Gunditjmara, Wiradjuri and Yorta Yorta freelance and comedy television writer. Their writing centres on Black, feminist and queer politics.

Scott Wilson shares Gooniyandi thangarndi (language) in a story inspired by Gooniyandi Riwi (Country) and his grandmother Margaret, named after the Margaret River that runs through Gooniyandi Country. She spent most of her life by the ocean and fishing in the sea. It shares a journey of someone living away from Country, but knowing that Country lives within us.  

Scott Wilson is a proud Gooniyandi and Gajerrong man from the Kimberley, Western Australia. Scott is now the co-creator and writer of the first Aboriginal Superhero Universe, called the Indigiverse and a new Green Energy company called, Gevolve Solutions.  

Kirli Saunders centres Gundungurra language in this story of rising like the sun, with singing, dancing, dreaming, hunting and speaking in mother tongue, before the sun sets at dawn. Kirili shares gratitude for the teachings of Aunty Velma Mulcahy and Aunty Sharyn Halls. 

This story was originally commissioned by Fremantle Biennale and Ngununggula, and has been extended through the Dreamy series. 

Kirli Saunders (OAM) is a proud Gunai woman with Yuin, Dharawal, Gundungurra and Biripi ties. She is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist who works across a range of mediums spanning books, film, art, poetry and performance.

Yessie Mosby tells a story from the Torres Strait about Zagu and the fireflies. The story is as old as the oldest star in the sky and Zagu is a young boy of the sea who loves to play, dance, sing and be free like a dolphin.

Yessie Mosby is from Masig (Yorke Island) and belongs to the Kulkalgal people in Zenadh Kes (Torres Strait Islands and surrounding seas). Yessie is one of the #TorresStrait8 claimants campaigning for climate action with Our Islands Our Home. 

Jazz Money takes you on a reflective journey between bilabang which means pool of water in Wiradjuri, ancient skies full of ancient knowledges, connecting and caring for Country and its eternal heartbeat, and gathering seeds with baskets weaved. 

Jazz Money is a Wiradjuri poet and artist producing works that encompass installation, digital, performance, film and print. Their writing and art has been presented, performed and published nationally and internationally.
