A topic very close to my heart and something that divides opinion in those in and even outside of academia and the medical fraternity. It also explores the nature and significance of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, its variations across the globe, and some of the related issues and debates.

From its origins, Doctor is an academic title that originates from the Latin word of the same spelling and meaning.[1] The word is originally an agentive noun of the Latin verb docēre [dɔˈkeːrɛ] 'to teach'. It has been used as an academic title in Europe since the 13th century, when the first doctorates were awarded at the University of Bologna and the University of Paris. Having become established in European universities, this usage spread around the world (Wikipedia contributors, 2023).

Contracted "Dr" or "Dr.", it is used as a designation for a person who has obtained a doctorate (commonly a PhD). In past usage, the term could be applied to any learned person. In many parts of the world today it is also used by medical practitioners, regardless of whether they hold a doctoral-level degree (Wikipedia contributors, 2023).

This 30 min episode just talks about the week (Monday to Friday) I had and highlights a few things I completed each day. This is over and above what I normally do as a stay-at-home and self-employed dad.

Lastly, as mentioned in the heading, we had communication from school about my son's Year class and at short notice we have been informed all Year 2's need to self-isolate for 14 days....a teacher tested positive!!!

As you heard during my recording, my son and wife busy in the background...this is what normal life is...I am a father and a husband and do not operate in vacuum, so apologies for the noises.
