- 4. Stand-up Comedy, Censorship, Entry-level Jobs, & Italians | Gim CiprianoIn this episode, I speak with my older brother, Gimmy Cipriano... Yes, Gimmy with a G. My dad always says there is no J in the Italian alphabet.Gimmy, along with Sara from episode 2, have been some of the big influences that encouraged me to start the Drift Proof Podcast! Like me, Gimmy is an expert in entry-level jobs and has been searching for a direction to take his life for a long time. He has tried everything from ice cream truck driver to headhunter/talent acquisition specialist. He has been doing stand-up comedy for about 7 years now and it should go without saying that he has a great sense of humor about life.He currently drives for DoorDash but still finds time to continue his stand-up comedy on the side. In order to get a little bit more direction and structure on his career in entertainment, he will begin a year-long film/production school in the fall of this year. Our chemistry is amazing and he has a lot of insight on both drifting through life and choosing to follow your dreams. We cover topics like comedy, censorship, Gim’s different jobs, screenwriting, our family growing up, Italian-Americans, driftproofing, and like always, I throw some psychology in there along the way.I really hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did recording it. Carrie is in his Master’s program for dietetics and is currently planning out a future in clinical psychology. Drift Proof is a podcast designed to help you find a little bit more meaning and direction in your life. My name is Andrew Cipriano and I will be your host throughout this journey. I decided to…
create this podcast after spending tiresome years trying to answer the misleadingly simple question: "What should I do with my life?" I have been studying psychology for quite a while now and have come to absolutely love the subject. I currently work as a technician in a psychiatric hospital, where I see people trying to answer this same question every day. After failed attempts at finding helpful resources to answer this question, I decided that I would have to create one myself. Drift Proof was born. The name comes from the idea that drifting through life is simply not a good strategy. A far better option is to point at something, aiming, and shooting. Every episode of this podcast is themed around answering this question and I will consistently have guests on from all perspectives, professions, and backgrounds that share their stories. We will talk about where they started, where and what they are doing now, and what they are aiming at for the future. Of course, I will also be throwing in some psychological knowledge, tips, ideas, and advice along the way because psychology is where my heart lies.
