Shayne is a queer, disabled poet whose writing addresses mental health - verbally illustrating the struggles of mental illness as a queer individual.

On May 29th, I'm speaking at a middle school career fair about using creativity to build healthy coping skills in order to help deal with the increasing mental health struggles in today's societies - especially as a member of the queer community. I'll have a table set up in the gymnasium to answer questions about self-publishing and to encourage young writers to use their voices to open new doors of opportunity for them.

Guest: Author Rafael Torrubia: Previous careers includ working in costume at the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre, interviewing ex-Black Panther Party members, and they worked as a gardener at a country house which was used to science experiments during the second world war. Author of The Shipwright and the Shroudweaver

RAFAEL TORRUBIA is the author of The Shipwright and the Shroudweaver, the first novel in an epic fantasy series from Gollancz. They have won a number of awards for their writing and poetry, including Writer of the Year from the National Gallery of Scotland, the Deirdre Roberts Poetry Prize and multiple shortlistings for the Bridport Prize. Their previous prose and poetry work rests with Bloomsbury, the National Gallery of Scotland, Jupiter Artland and Sword & Kettle Press.  

An Italian translation of The Shipwright and the Shroudweaver is forthcoming from Ne/oN Libri. Like all recovering historians, they have also worked in wine, whisky, and at the National Museum of Scotland. When not writing, they can be found lost in a peaty whisky, a muddy allotment, or by a wide, dark river somewhere in Perthshire. 

They'll be at Cymera Festival 5-7 June, Station Books Tunbridge Wells May 30th, and the paperback launches November 26, 2026.

T.L. Bodine writes horror at the intersection of the fantastic and mundane. Her work often deals with themes of grief, survival, monstrosity, and the subtle ways people can destroy each other's lives.  

She is the author of several novels, including the survival thriller Neverest, the Books of Lazarus trilogy (River of Souls, House of Lazarus, and the upcoming Cage of Bones), the dark fantasy The Darkness of Dreamland, and the Wattpad-exclusive The Hound, which has been optioned for film.  

T.L. is a 2018 Watty award winner and the grand prize winner of the TNT Horror Contest hosted by Wattpad.

Drinking With Authors | Featuring Kathleen Palm 

Guest: Kathleen Palm played the violin for 9 years, went to college and got a degree in art, because she wanted to be an illustrator, and has a slight obsession with Little House on the Prairie; all the books live on a shelf near her Stephen King books. Author of The Nowhere Series (upper middle grade horror for ages 9-14ish)

Kathleen Palm is a little light, a little dark, and a lot weird. Living in an old (sadly not haunted) house in Indiana, she watches horror movies, reads scary books, drinks chocolate milk, and plots how to spread light through the darkness. Her short stories have appeared in several anthologies and on the Tales to Terrify podcast. But her truest creepy love is middle grade horror, where we find power and face our fears wrapped up in family and friends.
