Drinks and a Movie

This week Carissa and I try out an amazing hazy IPA and discuss Eli Roths feature film directorial debut "Cabin Fever".

This week in celebration of the summer time, Carissa joins me to chat about the 1983 horor film "Sleepaway Camp" starring Felissa Rose. Since the wether is hot we try some refreshing Sierra Nevada Summerfest Lager.

This week I'm solo, giving my rambling thoughts on both Barbie and Oppenheimer after my first view. These movies definitely require a watch as well as some folks to chat with so they will probably be revisted in greater detail another time. I just couldn't pass up making an episode about what I think is the Movie Event of the year. For two movies I decided to taste two great rye whiskies. Sagamore Spirit's Bottled in Bond batch 2 and 8 year old batch 2. They;re both really great ryes that you should try as soon as you get a chance. Cheers!

Matt and I try out one of the newest batches of Bookers bourbon as well as a recent daily sipper of mine, Jim Beam single barrel. We end up busting out the knob creek to compare with the Jim Beam SB and Bookers. We discuss the movie event of the year that's dropping this weekend, the strike, and finally a long conversation on the latest Indiana Jones film.

In this weeks episode we taste Old Grand Dad Bonded and 114 then discussYasujiro Ozu's "Tokyo Story" from 1953.

This week Matt and i discuss "The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez" directed by Robert M. Young and sarring Edward James Olmos. The new Hardins Creek line of bourbons from Beam distilling had just come out when we covered Youngs earlier film "Alambrista" so we decided to pair this with the latest release from Hardins Creek, the kentucky series Clermont. This is a 17 year old bourbon that is part 1 of a 3 part release that shows how the same whiskey changes based on where it's aged. The expression was aged on Beams Clermont campus and it is exceptional.

In the second of Chris's picks we chat about Steven Seagals second film, "Hard to Kill". There's a lot of laughting in this one. Before diving into the movie we try Wild Turkey 101 bourbonas well as it's single barrel counterpart Kentucky Spirit.

Trying out another solo episode where I taste the Sierra Norte red corn mexican whiskey and give my simple review on Eva Longoria's directorial debut "Flamin' Hot". We discuss how his career began with his thesis film "Distant Water", his twilight zone inspired show "Foto Novelas", his documentary "Tales of Masked Men", his feature film directorial debut "Price of Glory" starring Jimmy Smits, and hi latest short film "The Kill Floor" which is currently playing in film festivals across the country. This is a great episode for any filmmakers out there that are interested in directing.
