Kate met Susan Quakkelaar through the job hunt, unfortunately Susan never hired Kate although they maintained contact and have built a wonderful friendship. Join us over beers as Susan discusses her childhood trauma, healing, therapy, and motherhood. During her childhood Susan struggled because of her mother, who neglected her, and her step father, who molested her. After years of living with trauma and then a divorce she decided to undergo intense therapy which she credits for helping her. Although, Susan assures us that healing is a continuous process especially with her young son to raise. She wants to be the best parent despite the actions of hers’; and from this interview we are sure that she is and will continue to be.

Emily had a tumultuous relationship with her father and a blossoming one with her mother; although both of them are recently deceased. During the grieving process, Emily continued to pursue her passion project with All Square, a grilled cheese shop which employs and nurtures newly convicted felons. Emily found that newly convicted felons, especially those of colour, have tremendous barriers in accessing affordable housing - inspiring the mission of All Square. In this episode Kailee Ogden, financial advisor, details why she does pro bono financial planning specifically with victims of domestic abuse here in the Twin Cities. After her personal trauma with domestic abuse and assault, Kailee eventually recognized herself as a victim and then spoke publicly about her story. Afterwards, she participated in pageants and always maintained connections with organizations that addressed abuse and assault survivors. To this day she is still doing pro bono work and hopes to create a foundation which offers financial planning to women of domestic abuse.

Neda Renee is the proud founder of Project DIVA an organization which fosters success specifically for Black girls in the Twin Cities. Outside of her career successes Neda took an unconventional route to where she is now; cosmetology school, volunteerings, and inspirational speaking engagments. She is a dynamic wise woman; who also hates bitter drinks.
