  • Rob Chestnut on How Smart Companies Can Lead an Ethical Revolution
Michael will be talking with Rob Chesnut, author of Intentional Integrity: How Smart Companies Can Lead an Ethical Revolution, about to talk about ethics in a post-COVID workplace or integrity during times of crisis. Rob recently left his position as chief ethics officer of Airbnb but continues to consult in this area with Airbnb, eBay, Chegg, and others. Possible areas of discussion might be how integrity can guide decisions about:
How and when to bring people back into physical workspaces. People are nervous about the transmission of the disease in closed spaces, but you need to get people back to work. Is it ethical to bring them back to work if you can’t guarantee they won’t get sick? How can you draw on integrity and values to make and build support for these decisions. How to handle furloughed staff – this is a group that will need some TLC. They are going to have conflicted feelings about returning to work, their key duties may have been unfulfilled leaving a backlog of work, and they may feel like they are on tenuous ground or borrowed time, making them less vocal about their needs or reporting ethical issues for fear of rocking the boat.Whether your ethics code worked… You’ve been through fire – it’s a great time to evaluate how your integrity and ethics codes worked for your company. Did it make decisions easier? Harder? Did it provide the guidance you needed? It may be time for an integrity reboot, but where to get started?
How to support parents who have been juggling more than just work? How to manage remote workforces so they strive for integrity every day? What new ethical traps have come up beyond the Top 10 Rob identifies in the book? Who is responsible for ethics in a company – legal, HR, the CEO? And on.

  • Gut-Check Time: Are your Values “Holding Up” in the COVID-19 Era?
Organizational and HR Leaders have faced some challenging times over the last several months while navigating the turbulent waters of “work in the time of a global pandemic.” In addition to business continuity and sustainability they’ve had to reflect and review (continuously) how they’re putting their VALUES into action. This year, more than ever before, has shown us that what companies (and leaders) DO for their employees, partners and communities during a crisis is the true test...regardless of the words on a wall or web site.
Join us for a discussion with Rob Caswell, Manager of Employee and Labour Relations with Carewell Innovative Health Care as we explore why and how “values” (corporate AND personal) are your best guide in times of crisis.

  • Reinventing Work: Finding your Groove
Success in today’s business environment means working differently; top-down, bureaucratic, hierarchical organizations are dead (and dying!) while trust and agility have taken center stage. Making an organizational shift to a new way of working, while not easy, can become EASIER when HR professionals influence their organizations by understanding various components of this transformation including purpose, freedom and the fact that leadership is a choice....not a “position”.
Join us for a chat with our guest Pam Ross with Blue Rebel Works who specializes in leadership development, culture design and reinventing work for a discussion centered on how YOU can find your groove and easily implement changes to reimagine and reinvent work.

  • Successful HR: Startups and SMBs
There’s the practice of HR in large corporate enterprises and then there’s the practice of HR in small/mid-sized business or start-ups. While both offer exceptional opportunities to do “great HR,” there’s something about the multi-hat-wearing creativity and boot-strappin’ HR that often occurs in smaller (or newer!) companies.
Join us for a chat with our guest Jeff Waldman, HR consultant/adviser and Founder of Social HR Camp as we dive into what he’s discovered about successful HR in the world beyond the massive corporate settings.

  • Compensation Design in a Rapidly Changing Environment
Compensation design (“how should we PAY and REWARD these people?”) is often one of those areas of people management that seems to be a mix of art-and-science. And NOW, in the Covid-19/POST Covid-19 world of work, it’s become even more complex.
