Podcast Description:
What does it really mean to be free?
In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, we explore the difference between the freedoms our country provides and the freedom only Christ can offer. While we’re incredibly blessed to live in a nation that protects our rights, no government can heal a broken heart, remove our guilt, or set us free from sin.
Join me as we unpack what Jesus meant when He said, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” This conversation isn’t about choosing one freedom over the other—it’s about understanding which freedom lasts forever.
Everybody’s Got a Little Crazy
Let’s be honest… every single one of us has something a little weird about us. Maybe it’s the way we load the dishwasher, the seat we have to sit in at church, the sports team that can ruin our entire week, or the random habits we think are completely normal.
In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, we’re talking about the truth that nobody really wants to admit: everybody has a little crazy in them. The problem is, we’re usually really good at spotting everyone else’s weird while being completely blind to our own.
This episode is funny, relatable, and maybe a little convicting as we talk about quirks, family traditions, social media judgment, and why grace matters more than ever in a world full of people who all think their version of normal is the right one.
So buckle up for a fun ride as we laugh at ourselves, laugh at each other, and maybe learn that “normal” doesn’t really exist after all.
Ever notice how the oldest child seems to think they’re the assistant parent? The middle child has mastered the art of negotiation? And the youngest somehow lives by an entirely different set of rules?
In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, we’re diving into the fascinating world of birth order and family dynamics. From the responsible firstborn to the independent middle child and the carefree baby of the family, we’ll explore why siblings raised under the same roof can turn out so differently.
We’ll laugh about the stereotypes, talk about what parents can learn from them, and uncover a deeper truth: every child experiences a different version of the same family.
Whether you’re the oldest, middle, youngest, or a parent trying to figure out all of the above, this episode will have you nodding your head, laughing out loud, and maybe even seeing your family in a whole new way.
So buckle up and join me for a fun conversation about leadership, sibling rivalry, parenting, and the beautiful chaos of family life.
Welcome to Drive Time with Matt.
Short description for today. Random story from the Fairy Walk. First hand account. It was strange and I don’t tell you everything because some of the things we saw were inappropriate for kids. Adults should know this! Ugh!
Then apparently I’m a grandpaw now? Yeah….I don’t get that!
As parents, we all want our kids to succeed. Whether it’s basketball, dance, music, school, or any other activity, we can see their potential. But what happens when they don’t want to put in the work required to get better?
In this episode of Drive Time With Matt, we’re talking about one of the biggest challenges parents face: teaching our children the value of practice, discipline, and perseverance.
How do you motivate a child without pushing too hard? What’s the difference between encouragement and pressure? And how do we teach our kids that talent alone will only take them so far?
Join me as we explore why consistency beats talent, why the dream has to belong to them, and why one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is learning how to do hard things even when they don’t feel like it.
Because in the end, this episode isn’t really about sports or dance. It’s about raising resilient kids who understand that success is built one practice at a time.
Does Your Car Make You More Attractive?
What does the vehicle you drive say about you?
If a guy pulls up in a truck, does that make him more attractive? What about a Subaru? A Jeep? A sports car? Or does it really not matter at all?
In this episode of Drive Time With Matt, Matt dives into the stereotypes, assumptions, and psychology behind the vehicles we drive and the impressions they create. From truck owners and Subaru adventurers to Jeep enthusiasts and minivan warriors, we’ll explore why people make snap judgments based on what’s parked in the driveway.
Along the way, we’ll laugh at some of the stereotypes, challenge some of our assumptions, and discover that while a vehicle might make a first impression, it’s your character that leaves a lasting one.
Whether you’re single, married, or just passionate about your ride, this episode is guaranteed to make you think—and probably laugh a little too.
So buckle up and join the conversation: Does your car make you more attractive?
Hello Darlin’
Have you ever known someone who seemed like they had God’s cell phone number?
You know the type. They were full of wisdom, grace, love, and faith. When life got hard, they knew exactly what to say. When they prayed, you felt like heaven was listening. They weren’t perfect, but they were the kind of people who made God’s presence feel a little more real.
In this deeply personal episode of Drive Time With Matt, Matt reflects on the lives of two incredible women who shaped his faith and his life: Maw Maw Alma and Maw Maw Margaret. Through stories, laughter, memories, and a few tears, he explores the impact of the people who quietly show us what it means to walk faithfully with God.
This episode is a tribute to the grandparents, mentors, teachers, and faithful friends who have left fingerprints on our hearts and pointed us toward Jesus along the way.
Fair warning: you may find yourself thinking about someone you love, reaching for the phone, or shedding a few tears of your own.
Who is the person in your life that seemed to have God’s cell phone number?
Hop in, buckle up, and join Matt for one of the most heartfelt episodes of Drive Time With Matt yet.
What makes some teams thrive while others struggle?
Why do some leaders inspire loyalty, trust, and growth while others create frustration and burnout?
In this episode of Drive Time With Matt, we’re diving into the fascinating world of Industrial-Organizational Psychology—the science of leadership, teamwork, and workplace culture.
We’ll explore what builds trust on a team, why psychological safety matters, how different personality types contribute to success, and the leadership habits that can make or break an organization. Whether you’re leading a business, serving in ministry, coaching a team, or simply working alongside others, these principles can help you become a more effective leader and teammate.
We’ll also take a look at leadership through a biblical lens and discuss why the greatest leaders aren’t focused on being in charge—they’re focused on serving others and helping people grow.
If you’ve ever wondered why some teams click while others fall apart, this episode is for you.
Buckle up and join the conversation on Drive Time With Matt!
Have you ever spent time washing your car only to have a bird immediately decorate your windshield?
Why does it always happen right after a car wash? Why is bird poop white? And what in the world are these birds eating?!
In this episode of Drive Time With Matt, we’re diving into one of life’s greatest mysteries: the apparent conspiracy between birds and clean vehicles. From suspiciously perfect aerial attacks to the science behind bird droppings, we’re asking the questions that nobody else is brave enough to ask.
Is it bad luck? Is it coincidence? Or have birds been targeting us all along?
Grab your windshield cleaner and join me for a fun, hilarious conversation about a problem every driver has experienced at least once.
Because let’s be honest… it feels personal.
Episode 100: What 100 Episodes Taught Me
I honestly can’t believe I’m saying this… welcome to Episode 100 of Drive Time With Matt!
When I started this podcast, I had no idea what it would become. What began as a simple idea turned into a journey filled with stories, lessons, laughter, faith, and more than a few unexpected moments.
In this special milestone episode, I’m reflecting on what I’ve learned over the past 100 episodes. From realizing how much my past has shaped me, to seeing how God continues to refine me, to discovering that you’re never too old to try something new, this episode is a look back at the journey so far.
We’ll talk about the importance of community, the people who have supported me along the way, and why I discovered that many of these episodes were actually messages I needed to hear myself.
Oh, and yes… we’ll also discuss the fact that I apparently have enough crazy stories for several more podcasts—though some may never make it on the air!
Thank you for listening, supporting, sharing, and being part of this journey. Here’s to the first 100 episodes and whatever God has planned for the next 100.
If you’ve enjoyed the podcast, I’d be grateful if you’d leave a review and share it with a friend.
Let’s hit the road.
