85 – mid 87. Yeah I know the date is specific but 87 is for me another eureka moment! Prior to that it’s all hard and fast. The Swamp Club, The Dirtbox, The Fridge the last throws of the Mud, a bit of Taboo.
Blow your sock off with the ‘Buttholes’, the baddest bass workouts with Doug Wimbish and the ‘Beasties hit town.
Mutoid are doing their grunge thing.
I am still doing bits and pieces ‘on the scene’ (roadie, club decorating………)
It’s accelerating towards……………

High jinks, wrapped up in tape and lost highways. Got my eye’s wide open and trying everything that comes my way. Hearing ‘Planet rock’ in the offices of a record company in New York. Derek Harris lends me tapes of Afika islam on WHBI doing master mixes. The Batcave and a roller disco with Hamish throwing down tunes to blow our minds (and move our asses). Hanging out with DBC (Dredd Broardcasting Company) at Better Badges. Working with truly great artists at SARM Studio’s (home of ZTT). Pinch me, I’m Dreaming…………

I stood in front of the mirror- I looked old an tired- there was a Japanese rock ‘n roll record playin on the radio, an I said to myself, you gotta pull yourself together kid. You gotta get a grip a yourself. Who knows where this is headed? Headed, we gotta get prepared. We gotta pull some lines together. I looked away. Hey kid, you’re not listenin to me- We gotta start building some f****n bridges! F***k your bridges I heard someone say, I been painting bridges all my life, the last thing I wanna see is another goddam bridge.
Hold on, lets take a break here said the cat from the system (the system cat?) we gotta re-invent the boogaloo- how much goodwill you got in the bank? Just how much juice in the tank? This is gettin us nowhere I thought. But was nowhere better than somewhere I didn’t wanna be? f****n s***cakes.
I sat bac on the bed, head in hands, I’d travelled the world to be here! this was wreckless eric!……………. I turned over the page, an there it was………………. more words!

Things are moving fast, I have moved into a squat in London with the Urban Monkees, started working for Better Badges on an ad hoc basis (all night session making badges or fanzines, selling badges at loads of gigs with Flo or Hamish), spending weekends with new friends (Flo, Renny, Hugh) discovering music new and old (from Dub to Psycedelia) and generally having my mind blown.
MTV has just started broadcasting (a different animal from what we see today). I have started doing a little DJing at the 100 Club and music has become an all consuming passion.
I went to Glastonbury for the first time (New Order are espicially memorable) and also the 3rd Futurama Festival.
I have started working for a bands (Chelsea and The Meteors) doing backline (I am a ‘Roadie’).

DTB – Soultime- early 60’s.
Welcome to DTB Soultime- here’s a
selection of some our favourite Soul
tunes from the first half of the 60’s – Originally compiled from a bunch of vinyl in the early 80’s, an transferred
to CD in the 90’s – so there’s a few scratches/clicks etc.. (but not
surprisingly- we chose not to replace
em, just because we like it that way!)
The early 60’s catches the tail end of
the doo-wop era, some blues, an gospel influenced stuff, an a whole lotta soul!
So sit back an enjoy………………..

The Filth and the fury!
In 1976, England was a dark shade of grey. We had just come through the ruinous three-day week, with its attendant blackouts; we ate Wimpys, watched ‘On the Buses’, and hurried to the shops before they shut at five. Our rock music was dreary and pretentious, and our comedians told racist jokes on prime-time TV.
Punk Changed all that for our generation.
