    Let's welcome Aditya Sood @therealadityasood , who with his project "Reverse Testing Drug Chemotherapies on Drosophila Models to detect Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)" received NASA's 1st Place Award at ISEF 2019! 🌟 @society4science @nasa He was also selected as one of 25 U.S. students to attend the prestigious cryptography & cybersecurity summer program at MIT Lincoln Labs, MIT LLCipher. @lincoln_laboratory 🔐 He furthermore received Grand Award Bronze Medal at North American Science Fair (IRIC) 2020 for his research. @insposcience He utilized hardware Physically Unclonable Functions (PUFs) to enhance privacy and revolutionize encryption of consumer electronic health records. 🗂💊During the pandemic, he's led the development of an iOS app to support local businesses impacted by COVID-19. Aditya is also an author of "Trailblazing into Cryptography", an introductory cryptography book with endorsements from crypto experts at Google and Intel! Fun fact, you wouldn't want to get in a fight with Aditya, cause he's a Taekwondo 3rd Degree Black Belt, winning 5 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals at U.S. World Open Championship! 🏆

So did Rahil Samlal @rahilsamlal in this episode, researcher in Microbiology and an undergraduate student at the University of Pretoria studying Microbiology and Genetics. @universityofpretoria 🇿🇦 As the winner of the Eskom Expo for Young Scientist @eskom_expo , while receiving the University of Stellenbosch Bursary for top creative project and University of Pretoria Dr Derek Gray Award, he was a finalist at Intel ISEF 2018 @society4science , a participant at SIYSS (Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar @siyss_stockholm ) 2018, attending the Nobel Prize Week and Ceremony! 🌟His research focused on using biotechnology to develop cheaper and novel technologies to help fight lower quality of living in Africa and the rest of the world. He also investigated an alternative treatment protocol for commonly occurring pathogenic bacteria. Currently, Rahil is part of SynthEthics @synthethics_initiative as Ambassador of South Africa since he enjoys reviewing biotechnology's dynamic field with the rigorous input of ethical and philosophical discussions. 🧬⚖️ His passion is to bring science education to the general public, and it's not his first time grabbing the mic, since Rahil is also the co-host of the Dialogue Podcast. @dialogue_podcast

    Our next guest is Tarun Martheswaran, researcher in clinical & computational epidemiology! 🦠Tarun has a strong background in mathematics and competed at the national level growing up, being a 5x American Invitational Mathematics Examination qualifier. Upon entering high school, he got involved in research in the Computational Epidemiology field and created an Early Detection Model for Dengue Fever. 🌡His project earned him a spot at ISEF 2019 and 2020 @society4science , a National award at the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, and the opportunity to present at several International Conferences. Tarun is an IRIC InspoScience Grand Award Winner @insposcience (and invited to present at the American Association for Virology Conference), Young Scientist Journal (YSJ) International Conference in London winner and American Association of Cancer Research conference presenter. 🎤

    Tarun also worked on a project titled "Body mass index and mammographic density among Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders," which deduces risk factors of women of different ethnicities and takes a specific look at the Native Hawaiian population. This summer, he was 1 of 4 ISEF 2020 finalists to be chosen for the WebValley 2020 team (application required finalist position), where he gained many more skills in Computational Biology and Data Science to create a single cell sequencing training package to be implemented into Italian universities. 🧬 Tarun loves teaching STEM more than anything in the world. As President and Founding Member of the organization Mission Math (missionmathutah.com), they create a love for math in every community across their state. 🙌 @missionmathutah

    Let’s give a round of applause to Boglárka Ecsedi, who created an algorithm that detects rip currents using deep neural networks and artificial intelligence in computer image analysis. 🌊📸 Due to the difficulty of recognizing them and the unpredictability of their development, they cause numerous deaths worldwide. Her work was incubated at UC Santa Cruz 🌴 and was awarded First Prize at the Scientific and Innovation Talent Recruitment Contest for Youth by the Hungarian Association for Innovation. During the summer of 2020 she interned at imagiLabs and in Medical Physics at the Medical University of Vienna. 🩺The medical research group focuses on image-driven radiomic analysis of tumors to optimize treatment decision-making processes. Bogi is also a Junior Templeton Fellow, their program recognises exceptional cognitive talents. ⭐️ She’s a young member of the New York Academy of Sciences, a FameLab Hungary Finalist, TEDx speaker and Ambassador at the Association for Hungarian Women in Science.

Alishba is using three-dimensional printers to create prosthetics she wants to sell for no more than $500 (market range is between $5,000 and $100,000). 🦾She is member of the Masason Foundation that was started by Masayoshi Son, the Founder, Chairman and CEO of SoftBank Group Corp.     The winner is Khushi Parikh, 🙌 who also received Silver Medal, 18,000 USD entrance scholarship to the Rochester Institute of Technology and a 500 dollars bursary to the TKS 2020-21 session. This inspiring roboticist designed a deep neural network to detect antimicrobial resistance in S . p neumoniae. 🧫🔬Her study presents a proof of concept for the application of CNNs to detect AMR polymorphisms in bacterial DNA, which can be extended to other pathogen-antibiotic combinations in the future. 🧬She also designed a convolutional network to diagnose Lyme Disease previously, received Silver Prize in Genius Olympiad, the Petit Family Foundation's Women in Science Award and won Best Policy Paper, Diplomat and Delegate at ASU Model UNConference. Khushi tutors struggling students and teaches kids how to build autonomous robots. 💡
