The tendency of the human heart is to be divided in its affection for God. We want, as King David prayed, an undivided heart for the LORD. What are the obstacles to loving God with all ur heart? What practices can we engage in to allow the Holy Spirit to shape our hearts to be more like Jesus, to be more devoted to way and will of God? 

As the church moves into an uncertain future a foundational truth we will need to remember is that church is not a place we go to, it's a people we belong with.

Last week we talked about the Holy Spirit empowering the church for mission on the edge of the unknown. This week we look at we know. We know the church has a primary mission and message: the Gospel of Jesus. No matter what the future holds for us or the church we want to hold firm to our main message and mission of Gospel proclamation. We look at the early church and the persecuted church to learn how we stay focused on our mission & message.

The past ten weeks have proved to us that there's many things we don't know. The future, now more than ever, seems very uncertain. As we celebrate the birth of the church on the day of Pentecost we remind ourselves that the early church was launched into an unknown future (at least, unknown to them). Although there is much we don't know, christians do know that we, empowered by the Spirit, have a mission and purpose on this earth.

40 days after His resurrection Jesus ascended to heaven to take His rightful place at the right hand of the Father where all things were put under His authority. If Jesus is on the throne in heaven, what does this mean for us? We examine the omnipresence of Jesus, the assurance of His power to overcome fear and the work of His sacrifice that cleanses all of us our sin. 

Jesus tells us not to worry - to trust that Our Father knows what we need and will provide it. But worry is universal to the human experience. We ask, where does worry come from and how do we deal with worry and anxiety. 

Jesus tells us to be sure we focus more on storing up treasure in heaven than treasure on earth. What does He mean by this and how do we do it? 

We never outgrow temptation. From childhood to adulthood we all face temptation to engage in things we know are wrong or hurtful. Temptation isn't a sin, but it is dangerous. Jesus teaches us to pray against temptation and to be delivered form evil or the evil one. How do we resist temptation and overcome it? That's the topic of the message this week. 

Are there people we think do not deserve God's forgiveness? How does God forgive us ?and what exactly is forgiveness? Jesus, in his teaching on prayer tell us to pray, "Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us." God is serious about forgiveness, we explore forgiveness in today's sermon. 

Jesus is alive, the king is on His throne. We have a message for the world in this season. What is our message and how do we speak it? As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus we remind ourselves of the Good New Message that is meant ot be given to the whole world.
