  • Freddy Charles – Drummers I Like Podcast #4
Hello drummers and listeners! Drummers I Like here again with another episode of the Drummers I Like Podcast. This week we had the honor of having Freddy Charles as our guest.

Freddy is a multi-instrumentalist, a drummer and an accomplished entrepreneur that has found his favorite place being behind the kit. He definitely brings a unique insight to drumming and you can thank that to his diverse musical skills. His sense of time and incredible feel on the drums stands out in his playing. All three of us had a great chat and got into Freddy's early drumming journey as well as his influences, his opinions on digging into the roots of drumming, and the hot humid weather of Miami. We (especially Kevin) were pretty excited that he cited Bill Bruford as one of his main influences.

We can all agree that drummers of all ages should check him out (especially you young guns) and take in some of his very original drumming. Freddy gave us some insight into his rehearsal spaces in both New York and his really cool setup in Miami that is actually like a shipping container. Freddy explained that its kind of like one of those pods that you can pack and store large items in. Freddy has taken it and added some acoustic treatment to make it an awesome place to film his excellent drum videos! We had a great discussion and Freddy has a great outlook and humble approach to drumming in general. It was cool to hear a little about his musical mindset as well as his journey from drummer to guitarist to vocalist and back to a drummer. Drummers that have taken the time to perfect their talent can really appreciate the journey Freddy has taken with enough information to add to your own. Freddy has some really cool things going on right now and we get into this and more during the podcast.  Make sure to link up with Freddy by checking out the links below this post if you're not following him already.

Thanks again for listening to the Drummers I Like podcast and please feel free to give us your feedback. We want to know how we're doing and the more feedback the better. We are always striving to improve and it takes your opinions and thoughts and want to make each episode better than the last. 'Till next week! Thanks again for listening!

  • All about the hosts – Drummers I Like Podcast #3
In this episode of the Drummers I Like podcast, we get to know more about the DIL podcast host's Rich and Kevin, plus Kevin recaps his trip to Tampa to see The Contortionist and more!

What's up! Drummers I Like is back with episode 3 of the Drummers I Like podcast. In this episode, we tell our listeners a little about Rich and myself. We got into our history on the drums and gave some insight into our journey with drumming and music. Rich and I have quite different musical backgrounds so it's great to be able to share that with you guys! It's a great opportunity show how even though there are many drummers out there each one has a unique story behind them and it was definitely fun to get into that.

I also get a chance to talk about my trip to The Orpheum in Tampa Florida to check Joey Baca of The Contortionist and Navene Koperweis of Entheos. Their performances were great and it was awesome to check out their playing again and to catch up with them on how the tour was going and what was new. We touched a little bit on what we've been working on with our personal practice routines lately and even get a little into some gear related stuff too.
We urge our listeners and readers to make sure to check out episode 3 of the Drummers I Like podcast and let us know what you think! We've included our personal social media links below these notes if you feel like keeping up with what we're doing individually, so check those out if you'd like too! Until next time

  • Matt Halpern – Drummers I Like Podcast #2
What's up, guys! Drummers I Like back here with a new episode of our podcast. This week we had the unbelievable honor of interviewing Matt Halpern of Periphery.

As you will hear in the show, Matt, and Richard have known each other since 2009 so we were really stoked to bring on such a good friend and mentor of musicians. As you will learn, Matt is a very busy guy and he always has a lot on his plate. Really, this just means he has a deep passion for everything he does and he loves sharing the knowledge that he's learned over the years with anyone who wants to learn and push to make their dreams a reality. Matt goes over a lot of topics, updates and personal knowledge that will help you succeed on your journey.
We discuss the recording of the new Periphery album "the release of their new album, Periphery III: Select Difficulty (The album will be released on July 22nd via Sumerian Records), along with some neat announcements that go along with that. Matt then talks about his role with The Entertainment Institute and explains the mission of one of his newest endeavors. He also talks about TEI's presence on the 2016 Vans Warped Tour and everything we can expect to see. Matt also gets into some of the details of the All Things Periphery Summer Jam and his plans on clinics and what campers can expect when they arrive at Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, New York. The camp is on July 25-29th 2016. From there, Matt talks about his mindset on being an entrepreneur in the music industry, how he decided to follow his passions, his process for figuring out how to make a living doing what you love and everything you need to keep in mind. Drummers I Like received a lot of user submitted questions for Matt and we are pretty satisfied with our choices and his responses! He gets into questions about his creative process when writing, why he doesn't use top felts on his cymbals and we even talk about his favorite cymbal choice from Meinl . There are some other great questions but you'll have to listen to hear the rest. Thank you! Mr. Matt Halpern.
As always we encourage you to visit Matt's Social media, keep up with what he's doing and get yourself set up with some drum lessons. Remember, you can contact Matt directly to book a lesson on his FaceBook.

Remember, you can learn more and even book a lesson at The Entertainment Institute Website.

And don't forget to grab tickets this Friday (April 29th, 2016) for their upcoming tour with Sikth, Toothgrinder, and Chon!

We're still new at this podcast adventure so make sure you leave us your feedback too. Leave a review on Itunes.
