Drunken Zombie Podcast

This is it. The final episode of Drunken Zombie. After 8 and a half years we're finally paying our tab and getting out of here. We have all sorts of special guests on this episode. Murf, Sometimes Mike, El Goro, Brian Niemier, and Shanna all sit in on one of our most legendary movie reviews. Also I started out thinking I should edit out a lot of stuff that wasn't important for the episode but 1) I'm lazy and 2) really it feels right to have all that nonsense in there. That's what we've always enjoyed. Being ourselves. We hope you enjoy and we'll see you at the next saloon.

This is it.  The very first time that you met the drunkards that you would fall in love with.  The audio is horrible.  We actually have notes which was quickly discarded in further episodes.

We recap our weekend at Horrorhound Weekend. The weekend was great and we have some fun stories to tell you about all the fun interviews we did that will all be showing up in future shows for our video show Drunken Zombie TV. This is back when rather than focusing on a single movie we’d talk about multiple movies in a category.  This episode is sort of legendary because this is the second time we recorded this episode as the first one was a lost episode and what we agreed was probably our funniest episode ever.  We were very drunk and made lots of jokes that we only remember pieces of.  So we tried to redo this episode but sadly it only became a tribute to that lost episode.  Also Frankenvox (who would later become known as Lord Blood-Rah) sent us sounders to use and this is the first episode we had them.  Some are still used today.

Drunken Zombie finally ventures into space in what we are calling our cursed episode. We tried this a few months ago but it never worked out. This time we tried once and it didn’t record so we started again. We got most of the way through and Bryan’s mic cuts out. Damn you space episode. In this episode Drunken Zombie Junior Correspondent Vaughn gives us a PSA about bringing your kids to movies. We debut our new sound effects courtesy of Frankenvox. And we discuss the movies Event Horizon, Hellraiser: Bloodlines, Jason X, and Alien.

This is the movie that is legendary in the DZ halls.  We heard about it from a Patton Oswalt comedy routine and decided we HAD to find it.  So friend of the show Vaughn decided to mail us his copy so we could talk about it.  It’s a crazy film.

We FINALLY get to review the movie Death Bed: The Bed That Eats.  Vaughn from Motion Picture Massacre was nice enough to loan us his copy of it.  We again get into some Sci Fi talk, get some fun voicemails and emails, and you can actually hear Dave this week.  Good times.

I talk about this episode a lot.  Like a lot a lot.  This solidified the idea for me that even though we were always just sort of fucking around on the podcast that to others it actually meant a lot and was important to them.  I cry in this episode.  Unashamably.  I was more pissed I couldn’t get through the email before the water works started. No matter what I do or where I go this is a memory I’ll carry with me forever.

Welcome to our MY BLOODY VALENTINE episode.  We check out the new remake that is now out in theaters and compare it to the original.  And in this episode you will probably hear us at our drunkest.  It gets pretty crazy.  And get the tissues ready as during listener mail we get an email that brings Bryan and Producer Amanda to tears.  You’ll find out why.  Keep an eye out for a My Bloody Valentine commentary up later this week.

This is the first guest appearance of friend of the show Brian Niemeier.  Also the first time we decide to look at Urban Dictionary and learn some new phrases.

For our 60th episode we talk about the Lance Henricksen classic Pumpkinhead.  Also Brian sits in with us (Lemon Police on the Forums).  We do a LOT of voicemail and emails, chat about The Grudge, and even though we didn’t plan on having a surprise picture during this episode one shows up in my email anyway from a very strange website.  Check it out below.

During one of our Mystery Movie Months I introduced the guys to one of my favorite childhood horror films Dreamscape.  This episode is important because it introduced us to Snakeman who would later go on to be a regular character on the show through voicemails.  SNAKEMAN!

Bryan picks this week’s movie.  All the guys get a little giddy like girl scouts on Mt. Dew for some reason.  And at some point Dave and Wes’ mics get weird.  I tried to bump them up a little but may have missed a few points.  But all in all a great way to celebrate 75 episodes.

This is the episode we recorded right after the first film festival that Lord Blood-Rah flew in to host for us.  He picked the movie and introduced us to Spider Baby. 

We have the place classed up as Blood Rah himself picks the topic of this episode and sits in to discuss it with us.  The movie?  The fantastic Spider Baby.  We review some fun stuff from the film festival, talk about Blood Rah’s trip to Peoria, and some fun stuff we’ve managed to watch lately.  Enjoy and as Blood Rah would say Geek Out!
