The Windler U biology department invents a machine to accelerate evolution in living creatures, turning a goldfish into a human being. Will attempts to help him adjust to life on the surface. Meanwhile, Dr. Ballard attempts to track down a new monster. 

Alone and left with a shattering self-truth, Will contemplates returning to his old life as a lake monster.
