  • Tony Kemp: NZ Warriors 'a Lock' for NRL Top 4, How to Fix the Broncos, & Despicable Player Agents

Lachlan Waugh - temporary host on the DSPN - is joined by former Warriors coach, and once a Newcastle Knights and Kiwis player, Tony Kemp. Together they dive deep into the Warriors’ gutsy 36-30 NRL victory over the Rabbitohs, praising their ability to grind out wins and the “next man up” mentality under coach Andrew Webster. Kempy tips his hat to halfback Luke Metcalf's maturity in the seven jumper, though flags defensive work-ons with the likelihood of the Warriors playing finals footy growing. The pair chat about the Warriors’ top-four hopes, Penrith’s looming resurgence, and why the Broncos look completely lost. Kempy also vents about the dodgy world of player agents, calling for the NRL to introduce a bond system. They wrap with a bit of State of Origin chat.

  • Tony Johnson: Super Rugby Finals Set - Who Are the Main Contenders? Plus, All Blacks Selection Headaches & Honouring Murray Mexted

On the DSPN, fill-in host Lachlan Waugh (picking up the slack while ol' Devlin laps it up on holiday) is joined by Sky Sport rugby commentator Tony Johnson for a deep dive into the final round of Super Rugby Pacific for 2025, and a look ahead to the finals series. Lachie and Tony rate each top-six contender’s title chances, unpack the Blues' form of late, and weigh in on Moana Pasifika’s breakout year. They also debate controversial refereeing in the Brumbies-Crusaders clash, chew over All Blacks selection headaches - especially out wide and in the midfield - and finish by toasting Murray Mexted’s well-earned King's Birthday honour.

  • 'Give the Highlanders a Chance!' - Super Rugby Pacific Preview, Warriors vs Rabbitohs, Broncos Bounce back? | What Has More Chance

Buckle up, sports fan - DSPN host Martin Devlin and young producer Lachlan Waugh are back, laying a game off What Has More Chance Of Happening. Marty and Lachie debate which Super Rugby Pacific underdog might pull off a miracle (spoiler: probably not the Waratahs), they dish out NRL odds like seasoned bookies, and argue over who's got the better chance - Liam Lawson cracking the F1 top 10 or Max Verstappen doing Max Verstappen things. There's even some A-League chat and a love letter to greasy chips at Brookvale Oval. It’s full-throttle sport talk, served with a cheeky grin.

  • 'They've Earned it' - Clinton Toopi raves about Warriors' NRL Season, & Reviews Queensland's Clunky Performance in State of Origin Opener

On the DSPN, Martin Devlin yarns with Clinton Toopi, the former Warriors and Kiwis centre, who dives into everything from State of Origin game one to Warriors' hopes for the 2025 NRL season. Toopi dishes on Queensland’s “clunky” misfires, NSW’s swagger, and why Origin ain't for the faint-hearted - or slow-reacting edge defenders. He also raves about Mitch Barnett’s madman ability to play back-to-back games like it’s a light jog. Off the field, Toopi’s been mentoring young rugby league guns on the Gold Coast, and promoting mental wellness - basically the NRL’s wise uncle. Finally, he tips his hat to the Warriors’ gritty rise, calling for consistency and dirty wins - because pretty footy doesn’t always get you the two points, but effort does!

  • Clinton Toopi, State of Origin, NZ Warriors, Greg Martin, Miles Davis | 29 May

Welcome to episode 93 of the DSPN - Devlin Sports Podcast Network...

    • Former Warriors and Kiwis centre Clinton Toopi joins Marty on the podcast to review State of Origin game one in Brisbane, which New South Wales won comfortably 18-6. Clinton also casts his eye over the Warriors' 2025 NRL season, and talks about what he's up to now on the Gold Coast.
    • Greg 'Marto' Martin from Triple M in Brisbane (also a former Wallabies fullback, by the way) provides a die-hard Queensland perspective on Origin. Marto also talks about a bunch of other sports coming up this weekend.
    • Marty plays the Tight 5 with none other than Miles Davis! Mr Nonsense himself. The pair debate five different sporting topics that are doing the rounds in NZ and around the world at the moment, such as Run It Straight, the A-League grand final, and Super Rugby.

    All that and much more!

  • 'They’re NOT Back Yet!' – Murray Mexted Questions Crusaders, Backs Hurricanes to Strike Big | Super Rugby 2025

Former All Black Murray Mexted joins Martin Devlin on the DSPN, for a lively, no-holds-barred Super Rugby Pacific chat, mixing sharp analysis with classic Mexted humour. Murray's all in on the Chiefs, calling their unity under soon-to-depart coach Clayton McMillan “commendable,” and reckons the Hurricanes are peaking at just the right time with strike power all over the park. While he’s not convinced the Crusaders are fully “back", he gives them credit, and argues the Highlanders are better than their low ranking suggests - “a good team will always beat a team of good players.”

Mexted tips Fabian Holland as a future star, praises the leadership of Timoci Tavatavanawai and his rise from winger to midfield mainstay, and questions the inconsistency of the Blues, despite backing them to sneak into the playoffs. Through it all, he hammers one point home with classic Kiwi bluntness: it’s simple - win the ball, and you’ll win the game.

  • 'Run It Straight? Get Rid of this Health Hazard!' - Marty's Sermon | 28 May

On the DSPN today, host Martin Devlin delivers a sermon on the rapidly rising game of 'Run it Straight', which you can call a sport at an absolute stretch. The game essentially takes the thunderous hit ups seen from kick-offs in rugby league, and uses those as the focal point of entertainment. Debate has sparked around its safety, especially with the competition RUNIT holding events in New Zealand recently. That debate has only grown fiercer with the death of a Kiwi teenager this week, who was playing a similar sort of game. Marty reckons there's little to no debate here, and there needs to be a push to get rid of the game.

  • Tony Kemp: Warriors' 'Deserved the Win', Panthers & Bulldogs lose, State of Origin | 2025 NRL Season

Tony Kemp - former Warriors coach, and ex Newcastle Knights and Kiwis player - is back on the DSPN alongside host Martin Devlin, to recap all the action from NRL round 12. It was a shortened round due to State of Origin, but featured a host of upsets. The Warriors fell at home to the Canberra Raiders 16-10 for their first defeat in over a month. First off, Marty sends some NRL quickfire questions Kempy's way, before the pair unpack the Warriors' loss, whether or not there was anything concerning about the performance, and how Canberra got the better of them. They move onto other NRL clubs such as the Canterbury Bulldogs and Penrith Panthers, and their current form in the midst of the Origin period. Finally, Kempy and Marty explore the upcoming challenges and fixtures for the Warriors, and give their thoughts on Queensland vs New South Wales.

  • 'Dynamite!' - Tony Johnson on Chiefs' MASSIVE Win, Hurricanes & Crusaders' Form | Super Rugby 2025

Tony Johnson - longtime Sky Sport rugby commentator - is back on the DSPN with host Martin Devlin, to review Super Rugby Pacific round 15 for 2025. The weekend was highlighted by the Chiefs' huge victory over Moana Pasifika. Tony and Marty talk about that, after working their way through six quick fire questions. What are the chances Moana Pasifika make the finals? Can they finish ahead of the Blues? They likely need to beat the in-form Hurricanes to do so. The pair also cover off the Crusaders' narrow escapes of late, Sevu Reece's record-breaking try on the weekend, the 'Canes win on the road over the Reds, and who the most disappointing teams of the season have been.
