On this edition of Century: Kratom in Montana. The Montana Legislature
is between sessions. Work continues howeve, r, with proposed
legislation being drafted and interim committees discussing
legislation to be introduced in the 2027 session. One of the topics
Montana legislators are working on is kratom, and the question
legislators are asking is whether to regulate or just ban the
substance. The Montana Legislature\'s Economic Affairs Interim
Committee met May 19 to consider draft legislation on kratom and take
public testimony. We hear portions of that hearing on this week\'s show
including testimony from Yellowstone County Health Officer Jonathan
Forte, Jay Yeager, Amanda Cahill representing the Confluence Public
Health Alliance, Mac Haddow. Senior fellow on public policy with the
American Kratom Association, EJ Redding representing the Montana Kava
