DTVC Podcast

We're joined once again by Jon Cross from After Movie Diner to discuss the PM Entertainment classic "T-Force." It's got it all, Jack Scalia, Erin Gray, Evan Lurie, Malibu, the be-pony-tailed cable guy from "Animal Instincts," all the stunts, car flips, and exploding helicopters you could ask for, plus one doughy alderman.

You can find the After Movie Diner on all major podcatchers, and on YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook Live.

And if you're in the New Milton, CT area, check out his VHS and DVD store, Be Kind Movie Vault!

Our theme song is done by Jon Cross's Miscellaneous Plumbing Fixtures, which you can listen to on Spotify, or go here for his Bandcamp https://miscplumbingfixtures.bandcamp.com/

In this episode Sean Malloy of "I Must Break This Podcast" is back, and we're discussing the recent Van Damme DTV effort "Darkness of Man." We get into what went wrong for us with this one, but why Van Damme's efforts are different from other DTV stars. Finally, we look at some ways Van Damme could still give us fans the films we're looking for from him.

Ty from Comeuppance Reviews is back for his monthly spot on the pod, this time looking DTV flicks starring rappers. First we're looking at "Turf War" aka "Lady Rider" with Fat Joe, and a character named "Old Timer Dave." This one's definitely on the junkier side. Then we have "Blood Money," which stars Pitbull. This might be one of the best films we've seen in our series of movies, but is that saying much? Finally, our spotlight on a fight looks at the fight between Peter Weller and Kurtwood Smith in RoboCop.

In this episode I'm joined once again by Will from Exploding Helicopter, as we look at Nepo Babies, two films starring kids of famous actors. First we look at "Dangerous," a thriller starring Scott Eastwood, also starring Mel and Tyrese Gibson. And then for the second film, we look at "211" starring Nicolas Cage, and his son Weston.

In this episode I'm joined once again by Chris "The Brain" Kacvinsky from Bulletproof Action, and this time we're going "meta" before the kids starting describing everything as "meta," with "Invasion Force." We look at what makes AIP films great, and how we found our way to them. We then break the movie down, as this scrappy film crew tries to defeat the nefarious Richard Lynch and his militia!

"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some weeks in addition to the main podcast. In this special episode I look at the Blade franchise with "Blade," "Blade II," and "Blade: Trinity." For the first one, I look at how this movie was the first successful big-screen Marvel film, but also how it served as a bridge between the 90s darker comic book era to the 2000s bigger budget hero-driven era. With the second film, we look at how Snipes keeps the ball rolling, and how del Toro as director gave the film an extra gear. Finally, with the third film, we look at why it was such a big miss, but then the overall legacy of the franchise, and where it could go next.

Scott Murphy from All 90s Action, All the Time and New Horror Express is back to discuss another Steven Seagal DTV flick, this time "Out for a Kill." Some of the funniest stuff ever in a Seagal DTV flick, this is what you came for. Monkey Style Kung Fu climbing up walls, people being beheaded by flying samurai swords thrown from second story windows, and Seagal as an archaeology professor.

In this episode I'm joined by Freddie Young from Full Moon Reviews as we look at the holiday horror sequel "Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2." Before that, we look at the year that was in theatrical releases, the winners and losers, and what we expect from next year. Then with the film, we get into how much of the first film was recycled, and then what we get that's new that's so iconic. "It's garbage day!"

Mitch from the Video Vacuum is back for his yearly holiday episode, as we look the 80s horror classic "Silent Night, Deadly Night." We start with a nostalgic conversation on toys from the past, including action figures and lunch boxes. Then with the film, we look at the ban, and whether it was warranted or not, followed by what makes it such a classic and a look at the highlights. Finally, we finish with Mitch and I having our annual conversation on his favorite holiday film, "Elves."

"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some weeks in addition to the main podcast. In this episode we finish our look at the Beverly Hills Cop franchise with "Beverly Hills Cop III" and "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F." For the first one, I look at how the film went bad, but also some of it's redeeming qualities, and how it might have gotten better over time. Then with the second one, I look at why we went so long before it was released, the length, and how hockey, plus a star with a plural first name, plus a helicopter explosion, is the best combination ever.
