Life in the town of Duchesne, about 100 miles from Salt Lake City, is as hard as sun-baked rock and weather-beaten leather. Everyone must struggle to survive, except John Pinder, the ne'er-do-well son of a millionaire. Pinder enjoyed ostrich farming, had a pet lion named Simba, and dabbled in dynamite and drugs.
