We are nearing the end of our tour through the first season of Lovecraft Country! Don’t fret, we came with a ginormous episode of substantial proportions to slake your thirst for that sweet DBCC action. First, we gives some nods to Blood Vessel and Possessor before launching into the main discussion. We manage to sneak in some questions, and a long diversion into Mike Flanagan love, before we finally get around to, you know, the point of the show. Then it’s on to a pair of outstanding episodes. In “I Am,” we talk burning bellies, sandbagging the stupid, the complicated characters and motivations of the show, and the pure pulp joy of the last half of the episode. In “Jig-a-bobo,” we confront racial caricatures in a way that makes Us look like a kid story. It’s terrifying, and we get some great exposition, too, and one of the ooziest body morphs on film! Bonus: Duncan’s favorite Duran Duran song!
