As Whitney Houston once told us, “Children are our future.” Yet, we’re thinking that she wasn’t implying that elementary school kids should be taken from their homes and enrolled in a no holds barred military academy in order to train to learn how to defeat invading armies of giant space ants! In this episode, the Boys dive into the first part of the classic Orson Scott Card novel, Ender’s Game. Jump on in and determine for yourself which way is “up” as Bob, Klab, Luke, and Paul discuss science fiction plot lines, Vietnam War analogies, strange dreams, child rearing techniques, and an entire colony of topics showing how far down the space bugger hole we can go.

The boys are back! This time they are tackling the H.G. Wells classic The Time Machine. Saddle up, grab a lever, and join Bob, Luke, Klab, and a surprise chrononaut 4th chair as they attempt to “convey the peculiar sensations of time traveling” and that “helpless headlong motion” that is Dungeons and Dweebs!
On this episode’s Tavern Talk.....
Let’s talk about Dick…
We have reached the end of our second Trilogy review, my Howlers! The sun never sets in space, but our squadron's time with Morning Star must inevitably come to its end. Will Bob, Luke, Klab, and Neal end with the rage of Ares, the strength of Ragnar, the honor of Cassius, the love of Sevro, the loyalty of Victra, the dream of Eo, or will we simply devolve into decapitating our leader in order to appoint a successor?
This time on Tavern Talk:
Luke gets time bamboozeled by the Netflix series 'Altered Carbon' and discusses his deep feelings on Star Wars. Klab binges on 'Criminal Minds' while Bob accuses author Ernest Kline of being a 'One Trick Pony' in his second novel, 'Armada'. And the Round Table answers some feedback, as well as discussing the state of YA fiction. What is it? And should it even be a thing?
On a chilly northern winter night, the boys find themselves at yet another tavern. They hunker down by the fire to discuss the last book in the Red Rising Trilogy Morning Star.
This time on Tavern Talk: Travelers season 2 as a retrospective, VHS box sets, Critical Role, Game of Thrones, current Lego sets and Lego sets we want made, Ready Player One the book versus the trailers for the movie, a little sneak at our reading calendar for 2019, and Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence.
We gather up in the war room to finish up our review of the second book in the Red Rising trilogy, Golden Son. We'll be cover parts 3 and 4 of the book and give our final thoughts and ratings at the end.
This time on Tavern Talk: Star Wars The Last Jedi (spoiler free), season 2 of Travelers on Netflix, buying toys as an adult, what the heck is Disney going to do with all that Fox stuff, Klab saw Justice League, DC movie universe restructuring, Bob watched Elysium, Red Rising influences in The Last Jedi?, and Bob made some funny Dragonlance pictures for the holiday season.
