The Timberwolves went into Phoenix on Friday night and gave their worst offensive effort of the season. Mitch and Pat argue about whether it was more about Phoenix or just self-inflicted wounds.
Still first place in the West, but the road gauntlet continues with the LA Lakers on Sunday.
Only six games left in the regular season, and following back-to-back wins over the Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors, the Minnesota Timberwolves are back in first place! Mitch and Pat hand out their normal awards and spend some time ranking the teams they most (and least) want to see in a first round matchup.
Mitch is back! Unfortunately... the Wolves weren't tonight. A shooting aberation game for both teams (Chicago on the very positive side of that, Minnesota on the negative) leads to a close loss at home to a sub .500 team.
It's the NBA, these games happen. But it does knock the Wolves into 3rd place in the West with eight to go. Hold onto your butts.
Oh first place in the Western Conference... how we've missed you! The Timberwolves march into Denver, completely suck the energy out of the arena by playing a dominant first half of basketball. and then gently coast to victory in the 2nd half.
The second half was such a gentle coasting that Brianna fell asleep and Pat had to do one last solo pod. Back at full strength Sunday for a matchup with the Bulls!
Pat is back for what is hopefully the last solo pod of the season to briefly recap a mostly forgettable professional victory over the Pistons. Most of the episode is spent doing a bit of a deep dive on Timberwolves stats in in the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns. How much of KAT's game does Naz Reid actually cover up? Where do they most miss him? 10 games is a small sample size, but its enough to see some trends!
Brianna joins Pat for her second appearance on the pod - raising her to number three on the Dunks After Dusk Power Rankings. She hands out game awards, talks about a referee/player love scandal and then professes her feelings about the attractiveness of a cerain Timberwolf.
Mitch and Pat are back to wrap up the road games against the Utah Jazz.
ANTHONY EDWARDS DUNKED SO HARD HE DISLOCATED HIS FINGER AND KNOCKED JOHN COLLINS OUT OF THE GAME.
Go watch it and then listen to us cause other things happened in the game. We think. Actually hard to remember but we talked for 40 minutes so there must be something!
Mitch and Pat are back to recap the Timberwolves season-series clinching victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. All-NBA calibur Anthony Edwards, a huge bounce back game for Mike Conley, some of the best NAW and Order of the season, and Jordan McLaughlin leading the team in plus/minus.
45-21. Don't count us out of the 1-seed just yet.
