The Swedish language uses a lot of prosody in the language. It also has unique word stress with long and short vowels or consonants. Swedish uses an acute tone accent or a grave tone accent. When Swedes speak, they will stress the most critical word; and which word they stress can change the entire meaning of a sentence.

Poverty is one of those issues that many people talk about and wonder about. But poverty and living poor are not the same things.

Poverty is about a person lacking enough resources or money to provide for their necessities of life, including food, clean water, shelter, and clothing. A person can have all of these necessities but maybe not have other things such as electricity. That is why there is a difference between someone in poverty and someone who may be living poor.

When people learn about Chinese History, it is confusing to understand that China’s last dynasty was not Chinese but was considered Manchurian.

The Manchus conquered China partly because the Ming Dynasty was in disarray, and the Manchurians’ military forces were superior in their military discipline, unity, and preparedness. The Ming Dynasty was dealing with a lot of infighting and a very disillusioned military.

When I was a young child, we would go outside and play in the snow, and my mother would put on a hat from Sapmi or Lapland, Sweden. We also had mittens Sapmi mittens from Sweden because they are so warm.

The Sami are indigenous people who live in northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia, known as Lapland or Sapmi. Most Sami people live in Norway and Sweden, some in Northern Finland and a few in Russia.

Norway, Denmark, and Sweden celebrate Christmas on December 24 because Christmas day was permanently reserved as a holy day. The Scandinavians also celebrate on the eve of a holy day and not on the holy day itself. Many Scandinavians would attend a church service mass on Christmas morning.

Gustave Eiffel, the architect of the Eiffel tour in Paris also designed the Long Bien bridge in Hanoi, Vietnam.  The Long Bien bridge has stood for over 100 years, despite the fact it was heavily bombed by the American forces during the Vietnam war.
