No two families are the same...well okay, except maybe when it comes to COVID lock-downs. Family, whether they are our biological families, extended family, or family members that we choose in the form of our friends and support, are all trying to figure out a new dynamic and way of being. In this episode, Ashton is joined by his cousin Christina Salcido, MS, LPC, NCC to discuss the unique dynamics that families face when merging indoors together for several months.
Ashton & Christina explore mental health in the time of this pandemic and one family’s approach to trying to make it work. Family systems theory and a little creativity go a long way for all of the parents and kids out there trying to make it work.
From Southern Colorado to Rhode Island and relocating to Texas, Christina Salcido has enjoyed helping teens adolescents with academics and social emotional support to launch them into their life's goals as a school counselor, helping people help themselves through crisis or times of change as a counselor, and being a mentor. Christina is a first generation college student who has obtained and earned a Secondary Teaching Certification and has earned a School Counselor Certification. In addition, her Master’s Degree in Counseling and Development has allowed her to earn an LPC to work in Community Counseling and to further help her students.
