Today we talked with Nick Buettner. He is an old friend that we met through Printing United Alliance and has worked with dye sublimation and heat transfer paper since his childhood. Nick shares what he has learned about what to look for when buying both heat presses and paper, as well as the importance of using a rich black when printing. Nick also gives us some helpful advice about our own dye sublimation lab setup that we hope our listeners can apply as well.

On today's episode, we talk to Kathryn Sanders. Kathryn is a third generation textile printer and will be launching a digital textile printing studio with her husband in August. We discuss a wide range of dye sublimation topics with her focused primarily on textiles, but with a lot of nuggets of information that can be applied to any substrate. Kathryn lends advice to newcomers to the industry that dye sub is a growing field that can accommodate new people with new ideas. We also discuss the inevitability that you will run into issues that will require troubleshooting and experimentation, but you learn a lot along the way. Kathryn also mentions the importance of profiles and bringing in color management professionals for specialized work, which we were very happy to hear and of course agree with.

Shellie, not to be confused with Shelby, is a Customer Success Manager at Adobe that Jim and Shelby have known for quite a long time. Shellie has also been dabbling in dye sublimation on the side, which she shares the story of at the start of the podcast.
