We had the pleasure of interviewing Ben Marien from NeuroTracker on this episode!

Ben is the Director of Business Development for the Athletic and Performance Markets for CogniSens Inc.

CogniSens is a privately held Canadian company that specializes in neuro-biological sciences and technology. Designed for sports, rehabilitation and military markets, our flagship product–The NeuroTracker–is a unique software that utilizes three-dimensional multiple object tracking to improve the neural networks governing situational awareness, executive function(s) and cognitive stamina. Used by some of the most elite names in sports and military (Manchester United; US Soccer; USSOCOM; the Atlanta Falcons; the Vancouver Canucks; Red Bull Racing and many more), our non-partisan science has shown a cause/effect relationship between training with NeuroTracker and improved performance.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Kathy Borchardt on this episode!

She is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice, specializing in neuropsychology and behavioral medicine. She performed her internship at Ray Graham Association (for mentally challenged children and adults) and at Neuropsychological and Rehabilitation Consultants. Post-doctorate training was also completed at Neuropsychological and Rehabilitation Consultants, as well as at Columbus Hospital Medical Rehabilitation Unit, Hinsdale Hospital Pain Clinic, and DuPage Convalescent Center Subacute Rehabilitation Unit.  She obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Illinois School of Professional Psychology (ISPP), with Certificates in Behavioral Medicine and Neuropsychology. She received her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago, and her Bachelors and MBA Degrees were obtained from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.  Her doctoral dissertation (CRP) focused on the use of intelligence tests to predict successful employment of cognitively impaired adults.

Denise graduated from Illinois State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education/Athletic Training. While earning her undergraduate degree she worked with a variety of high school and university athletic teams. She gained knowledge and skills in injury prevention, rehabilitation of athletic injuries, and on-the-field emergency care. After receiving her Certification of Athletic Training in 1998, she was employed in an outpatient orthopedic clinic while also serving as the head athletic trainer for a local high school.

In 2002 Denise earned her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Midwestern University and continued to work in the outpatient orthopedic setting. Denise’s ambition for furthering her education and clinical skills led her to complete a certification in orthopedic manual therapy (COMT) through International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine (IAOM-US). Obtaining this certification allowed her to advance her clinical diagnostic techniques and manual therapy skills, greatly enhancing patient care and outcomes. Her ongoing commitment to excellence in clinical practice, commitment to professional development, and passion for providing optimal patient care led Denise to complete a Fellowship in Clinical Diagnostics and Orthopedic Manual Therapy through the IAOM-US.

Throughout the years, Denise has been an educator on many levels. She has been a clinical instructor, mentored staff, provided company and community in-services training, involved in program development, and provided educational material to non-peer reviewed journals. She is currently an assistant instructor for the IAOM-US.

Denise is a proud member of the following organizations: American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, American Headache Society, American Physical Therapy Association, Illinois Physical Therapy Association, International Academy of Orthopaedic Medicine, National Headache Foundation, and Vestibular Disorders Association. Through these organizations she is able to keep up with current research.
