Steve had luckily traded Patrick earlier this off-season in another league. The trade was James Conner and Tim Patrick for Chris Godwin, which is looking like a great deal for him at this point. They also discuss Kareem Hunt and his demand for a new contract and to be traded from the Browns. They also touch upon the J.K. Dobbins injury situation and his potential removal from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, the emergence of Romeo Doubs in Green Bay and the very recent news of an ankle injury to Jameis Winston. Sunday night was the first Podcast Listeners' League draft and it was a lot of fun. They broadcast it live on YouTube so you can find it there if you want to see all five hours. If you don't have that much time, then check out this week's podcast episode to find out the top picks in this first-ever Dynasty Owner podcast listeners draft. They went in draft order and assessed each team's first five (or sometimes six or seven) picks and then commented on some interesting picks for each team at various points in the draft. Which listener was paying attention and grabbed Calvin Ridley in the 15th round? Which Dynasty Owner rookie drafted unbelievably close to the $145.74 million salary cap and what late round pick pushed him to be that close to the cap. If you watched the beginning of the Livestream, you'll know that Jay wasn't happy with what happened with his first round pick, but fortunately he's happy with how the rest of the draft went. After doing a rundown on all 12 teams, Jay had to leave so Steve talked about the two biggest pieces of NFL news from the past couple of days - Deebo Samuel's new contract with the 49ers which was announced during the Listeners' League draft on Sunday and Deshaun Watson's 6-game suspension which was announced early on Monday. Chris Carson's retirement is the focus because it gives them an opportunity to discuss what to do with his roster spot once Dynasty Owners can drop him and $5,212,500 salary for free. In regular dynasty leagues, you only get to fill his roster spot, but in Dynasty Owner, you can only fill it with a player or players who fit under the salary cap - just like NFL GMs have to do it. They discuss the signing of Julio Jones with Tampa Bay first and Jay wants to know if Steve is any less excited about Russell Gage with Julio on the Buccaneers' roster. They also discuss Kyler Murray's contract and how they are both shocked a starting NFL QBs might not spend at least 4 hours a week studying at home. Jay also has an interesting theory as he connects Kyler's apparently lack of study time to the Cardinals' poor finishes to the season for the past few years. Steve touches on Travis Kelce's contract change and explains why it doesn't affect his Dynasty Owner salary and they also speculate on possible landing spots for Jimmy Garoppolo now that his time in San Francisco is coming to an end. They close out the podcast talking about players who are likely available on the Free Agent Auction in your Dynasty Owner league who you can pick up to replace Chris Carson, or just if you have a couple of million dollars in salary cap room and a roster spot available.
