I like to use dividend yield theory as a valuation tool for dividend stocks. The most commonly found charts online are for 5 year comparisons of historical dividend yields. I wanted to look back further so I created a 28 year dividend yield theory chart for a solid dividend growth stock. After analyzing this chart and the actual and trailing dividend yield chart I found some useful insights that I would like to share with you.
