Lord Krishna begins his intellectual appeal to Arjuna for action and the reasons to act. He explains to Arjuna that one cannot abstain from fresh actions nor can one renounce from their current actions. All are made to act helplessly by the qualities of nature (Prakriti) and none can remain inactive even for a moment.
