The book Love and Respect by Dr. Emmerson Eggerich can be both transformative and controversial. I found its principles to be really helpful for me on my journey yet have found that SO MANY WOMEN take issue with the way it's written. 

Understandably so, It's hard to hear from a MAN who has never been married to a difficult man that he MUST respect his spouse. Then again, we've never been married to a disrespectful wife... Either way, I break down the book and scripture from which it's based to offer us a fresh way of thinking about our marriage roles today.
