Well it seems that the Flyers have let their playoffs hopes fall in front of the hockey world. With an absolutely dreadful month of March, the Flyers have found themselves outside of a playoff spot with all the momentum pushing against them. While nothing is officially over, the latest loss to the Boston Bruins, sure feel's like it. With all of the youth struggling at once and an endless spiral of poor team defense, the season has taken a turn for the worst. The Flyers have gone from a team that played solid defense in 2019-2020, but that now seems to have forgotten it all in 2021. The Flyers have failed to stop the opposition from scoring at 5v5 or the penalty kill on a nightly basis. Even the powerplay has had issues stopping the opposition from scoring and that just can't be the case, if an NHL team wants to compete with the best.

However, the season is not all lost work and all of the progress made during the COVID shortened season can be leveraged into a fast and mysterious summer that shows the winds of change around the league. Chuck Fletcher has an opportunity to plan for the near future and make sure that the same problems don't come back around next season. With a large plethora of tradable assets and a summer primed for movement, there is a good chance Fletcher can right the ship quickly. The one thing I've always been aware of is that one of the biggest requirements for a championship, is pain and suffering.

On this episode of Getting Gritty Wit It, I welcome back guest, Jason Myrtetus, to the show to talk about the Flyers' current situation, tradable assets, what it takes to win, and the likelihood of making the playoffs. Things don't look good right now, but let's try and focus on the opportunities ahead, because there are plenty of chances for redemption.
