Listen Later

MEET HOL GUEST: Latana Thaviseth

In episode 6 of HOL, Latana joins Rita for a conversation about her trajectory into higher education coming from a legacy of her own parents being Lao/Southeast Asian refugee community leaders. Latana emphasizes the importance of education instilled in her as young child and ways she has learned how to navigate educational spaces as a 2nd generation Lao American.

Today, Latana is the Assistant Director to Stanford University’s Asian American Activities Center, a Ph.D. student at UCLA and scholar activist. Her research focuses on the experiences of Southeast Asian (American) students in community colleges and their transition into 4-year colleges/universities.
