The word for this week is WORD. By word, I’m referring to the word of God, the Holy Bible, God’s divine instruction and life manual in print and this is the foundation block for spiritual growth and connecting more with God. However, my personal opinion is that the bible is not complete… (at least not until the world ceases to exist). I am not even referring to the debate that some books missing, I want to look at the fact that the bible is literally expressed God’s words, we are human vessels that He chooses to speak through and speak to! God is very much alive and therefore his word is too, as He speaks to us and we live out our lives, His word’s are being manifested and actualised for people around us to witness. Think about it this way, every time you testify and share your learnings from the bible, this is a form of spreading God’s living word to others.
Focus this week on God’s reading and understanding the bible, also take time to reflect on what your book in the bible looks like as we spend Each Day With God.

The word for this week is PATIENCE. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying that patience is a virtue, and whilst it may not be entirely biblical. Christians ought to value this character trait and do their best to develop and grow it. I am seriously trying to develop my patience and ensure that I continuously walk and act in love (believe me, it’s a struggle sometimes). As a christian, patience can help you exercise humility and can be viewed as a practical exercise of faith as you don’t rush irrationally into things.

The word for this week is PRAISE. I personally am someone who is very passionate about thanking God during my day to day activity and my prayer time. It takes me a while to get to a space where I even feel like asking for things in my prayer time because God is so good (even when things aren’t going my way). Praise not only looks at thanksgiving but also highlights and recognises God’s power in our lives in all areas.

The word for this week is PAUSE. For many people, this word strikes fear! The worst thing anyone wants to do is slow down or stop making progress right? Well, this week I’ve come to remind you that being still does not mean you are stagnant or not making progress. God sometimes needs us to be still and focus on him for him to speak to us and do his work in us.

The word for this week is HOPE. Hope is defined as “a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen” and it’s based on trust or belief. Hope should be based on a level of confidence for the future regardless of what is being hoped for. It’s interesting because I have found that people confuse hope (the confident belief something will happen) with wishing (the desire for something to happen but no confidence on if it will). As Christians, our hope needs to always be in God and this is where faith comes into the picture… “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).

The word for this week is HEARING. This week I want to encourage you to focus on what God is telling you. Often we complain about not knowing which direction to take or what the nexts steps for us need to be, but it all boils down to hearing God’s voice and obeying his word. There is nothing that you can think of that is too small for God to help guide you on, so make sure you involve him in your every decision and listen to his voice going forward.

The word for this week is Happiness, I’d like to dig a little deeper and look at that term through Joy! Happiness can be temporary but the joy of the Lord is permanent and it’s important for us to recognise the difference between the two. I personally have had many moments where I thought I needed to be smiling physically before I thought I was happy, as time has moved on I have realised that even during difficult times in my life God is still with me, this alone is enough to be counted towards joy.

The word for this week is Health. If you listened to the episodes directly before this one, you would have picked up a focus on the words greed and gratitude and explored with us how this impacts our development, life opportunities and of course our health.
Expanding on the topic of health for this week is by no means a mistake, many people make New Years resolutions, dietary commitments or lifestyle changes in an attempt to better their health. Whilst this is amazing, scripture backs up the need for us to focus on our health and wellbeing, I know there can be a lot of divide amongst the body of christ in terms of what foods and drinks we can consume, but, what we can all agree on is that our body is the temple of God, and as such we shouldn’t indulge in anything that will cause it permanent damage. God is still the ultimate healer but we must do everything to align our health with God’s plans for us.

The word for this week is GRATITUDE. This year, this month, this week has thrown its own challenges, but experiencing the challenge doesn't mean that God is absent or that he doesn’t love or support us. For me personally, I've been on a rollercoaster of emotions this year as I have faced issues with health, work, lack of direction and so much more. What’s mind-blowing is, I know people who have had to face even more than I have and yet they have stayed strong and remained grateful and full of God’s joy. I know I struggled to be grateful recently so I would like to be more intentional with it going forward.

The word for this week is GREED. Not to put a downer on this week, but I really feel that we ought to focus on ways we can strive to be better followers of Christ. Greed is something that shows up in so many ways; physically through food or even emotionally through hoarding and wanting to have people or things all to ourselves. In today’s world it’s almost like greed has become a coping mechanism for many people and with a world emphasis on the message of self-help and putting yourself first things can sometimes get out of hand. The Luke 12:15 clearly tells us that we are not defined by what we own, especially as we will not be able to take anything out of this earth, so why do we try and hold onto so much here?
