For episode 14 of the podcast, Joe sat down with Sarah and Jake Larson of the band Syvers.

Their single "The Wolves" is one of Ear Coffee's favorite songs of 2018. It is this anthemic track about finding hope in the middle of life's struggles that pushes itself to the edge before pulling back and fading out in a sea of twinkling synths and guitars.

Initially, Wes and Joe wanted to do a Car Seat Podcast where they drive around Minneapolis and talk about how Ear Coffee and how it has evolved over the last year. However, that didn't happen so they talked on the phone instead. 

Ear Coffee editor Wes Muilenburg sat down with the Twin Cities jazz fusion quartet Spelt Melk Collective for episode 11 of the Ear Coffee Podcast. The band shared an interesting perspective on being a younger jazz fusion group in a music community that is predominantly indie rock focused. 

Ear Coffee's Joe Keyport sat down with Brett Carey and Jordan Wipf of the band Calvin Heights. The three discussed the band's forthcoming record Talented Sun which is being released on August 10, 2018. 

This week Ear Coffee reached into the vault for an interview with the duo Syvers done in November of 2017. In June of 2018, the band released the lead single off of their debut record The Weight and The Sound. "The Wovles" is an anthemic track that shows off Sarah and Jake Larson's songwriting expertise. The pair blend a multitude of sounds with lyrics that tell stories of hope. 

Along with the band, this podcast also features David Kalsow from the podcast Ye Old Ink Well. 

Ear Coffee dug deep into their vaults and pulled out an interview with the band Cureton done in early 2017. Originally played on the defunct radio show Local Juke Joint, the interview with Joel and Caleb of the band was done right before they announced their debut record Spring In The Attic which turned a year old this week. This piece is being released as a companion to a feature done on the band that is on the Ear Coffee blog. 

Minnesota singer-songwriter Anna Marie Carey has been involved in the world of worship music for most of her life. However, it wasn't until after college that she started taking music seriously. She released Cry Of My Heart in 2013. She then followed it up two years later with Pulse Of My Heart. Recently, she has been working on writing worship music for her band Astronauts. Anna Marie Carey spoke with Ear Coffee's local correspondant Joe Keyport about her struggle trying to write worship music that is both artful and impactful.
