Early Bird Report with Mike Perrine

This special episode of The Early Bird Farm Report is a tribute to the life, legacy, and voice of its beloved host, Mike Perrine, who passed away on July 16, 2025 at age 83.

Hosted by Jake LaMore, this episode presents a journey through Mike's incredible life, created from a long-form podcast interview Jake conducted with him late last year. In this tribute, we are guided by Mike’s own voice as he shares the stories that shaped his remarkable 65-year career.

Listen now to hear about his humble beginnings working on a farm truck, the pivotal advice that set him on his path in radio, his accidental start in farm broadcasting, and his crowning achievement—induction into the National Association of Farm Broadcasting Hall of Fame. The episode also touches on his quiet courage as he continued his daily work for the community he loved while privately battling lung cancer.

This is our chance to come together and remember the voice we all knew and trusted. Join us in celebrating the life of our friend and colleague, the legendary Mike Perrine.

Thank you to Pathfinder for granting us permission to use parts of Mike's episode of Kankakee Podcast in this special Early Bird tribute.
