Join Kate Moxley in conversation with Author, Nurture Worker and Series Editor of the Routledge Little Minds Matter Collection of books, Sonia Mainstone Cotton, in this special episode for Early Years Wellbeing Week 2022.
Sonia wrote the 2017 book, Promoting Emotional Wellbeing in Early Years Staff; join us in the reflective conversation on the change we have seen over this time, as well as discuss the current challenges facing the sector for educators and children and thoughtful ways we can protect and promote our mental wellbeing. We also discuss Sonia's latest book with Jamel Carly Campbell, Building Positive Relationships in Early Years.
This week, we were joined by Melissa, who is a trainee teacher and SEND advocate. We invited Melissa onto the podcast because she is so passionate about children's rights and she kindly shared her own experiences of ADHD and Dyslexia. The early years is not a homogenous group, and we thought it was important to highlight that we each come with our own identities, diversities, traits, differences and struggles. This episode gets us thinking about how we equip our children with a strong sense of identity when they have learning differences, and if we don't see children's strengths what implications does this have? We hope you enjoy!
Join Kate and Kerry in our second episode of season two as we explore compassion fatigue, learning what it is and how it affects early years educators, and why it may show up. We answer some questions we received from listeners and discuss meaningful and intentional steps we can take to address it. Please note sensitive subjects are discussed in this episode.
