Earth-2.net Presents...

We see a Full Moon rising! We're gonna explore the early days of Charles Band's empire with 1985's Trancers (yes, we know, that one's technically Empire, shut up) and 1989's Puppet Master, all while trying to figure out how a company that started out consistently entertaining ended up making Barbie and Kendra Storm Area 51 or whatever.

This week, Desmond and Duane review the ridiculous Spookies. Then Desmond goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Tiny Multiple Monster Movies That Are Named After the Monsters. That might be the longest Top 5 title ever! Songs included: "The Creeps" by Social Distortion, "Spooky Jive" by Lordi, "Playing with Dolls" by Slayer, "No Strings on Me" by Darkhold. The Flickchart Forum returns to chart how the Star Wars franchise has gone from having an obvious worst movie 40 years ago to a less obvious worst movie after the release of eight more movies since the original trilogy. Ian Wilson is joined by Michael David Sims and Dan Toland to go over the three trilogies of The Skywalker Saga and the two Star Wars Stories from the late 2010s. Is the obvious film the best? Is the prequel trilogy responsible for the worst film? And if the answer to both questions is yes, what is the order of all the films in between?

This week's show is the promised Ask May Anything episode that was announced and came together very quickly. Listeners ask your intrepid host about all sorts of wild, weird things from real-life scares to fantasy superhero teams to, frankly, complete filth that I'm not too happy about. LOL. Every song in this episode has been released in the past few weeks except for one which is the world podcast premiere of your host's old band: "NERO" by Godflesh, "Millions of Spyders" by Stricken, "Midnight Boy" by Dorthia Cottrell, "Death Lurks At Every Turn" by Margarita Witch Cult, "When the Shooting's Done" by Grave Pleasures, and "An Offering to the Night" by Jesus Piece. This episode, Bryan and Desmond dissect the first credited role to Nicolas Cage: Valley Girl. From having no lines to being the male lead from one role to the next, Cage plays a punk rocker from downtown Hollywood who falls for a girl from the Valley. Shenanigans ensue.

Pride and prejudice. Stockholm Syndrome and suicide. Flickchart and foolishness. All of this and much more is discussed as Christian, Pandy, and Kelly size up Beauty and the Beast, the first animated film to bother the Academy Awards Best Picture nominations and one of the most beloved Disney films of all time. (RIP Angela Lansbury.)

From the depths of the nightmare plane they return! One is previously underappreciated and currently receiving a modern re-evaluation. The other is super goofy and has the Wings lady in it. Get your Jolt Cola and stay awake for 1985's A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge and 1987's Slumber Party Massacre II!

This week on the show, Desmond and Tom barely survive their encounter with Slayers. Then, for no reason whatsoever, Desmond goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Most Annoying / Worst Characters in Horror Cinema. Songs included: "Pride" by Hellacopters, "Bloodline" by Slayer, "Fuck People" by OFF!, and "Your Morning Kill" by Spotlights. Don't forget to send me questions for the Dread Media AMA next week! This week, Dread Media goes metal! More metal than usual, I mean. Desmond and Duane take a look at the heavy metal horror film The Devil's Candy. Then, Desmond goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Heavy Metal Movies. And we continue our run of playing brand new (for the most part) heavy metal music with these badass tunes: "Art Groupie" by Voodoocult, "By Demons Be Driven" by Pantera, "Waste of Myself" by Malevolence, and "Escape from Beyond" by Night Demon. Three eggs for the eagle queen, under the sky; seven for the poacher in his lair of stone; nine for the captured kid, begging to die; none for the bent bird with his back thrown, in the land of Australia where the sequel lies. One Will to rule them all, one Christian to wonder, "Why were there no more sequels after The Rescuers Down Under?" (Note: No Australians or Tolkien fans were hurt in the making of this podcast, although the Belgians and Swiss weren't so lucky).
