CareCuts Knoxville will serve 300-500 people on Easter Sunday. Volunteers and donations are needed and much appreciated. On Easter Sunday, or any Sunday you wish to help serve, head to 519 Williams Street at 10:30 am. More information is available at CareCutsKnox.org

We think our talented dogs can do tricks, but Smoky Mountain Service Dogs can do so much more. Suzy Kitchens tells us all they can do including laundry! The service dogs are trained as pups to help veterans with every day tasks, and to support those with anxiety and depression. A fundraising project is underway for the organization with a specialty license plate. It costs about $20,000 to train and pair the dogs with veterans.

Emerald Academy is accepting applications for the next school year. It’s a free, independently operated, K-8 college prep school for kids in Knox County. John Crooks says they offer extra curricular activities like art, music and PE, but the focus  is on academic excellence. The deadline to apply for Emerald Academy is March 26th.

Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee has a competition going on through the end of February and they need your votes to determine which breed is best when it comes to dogs. Stephanie, Missy and Elizabeth, three of the volunteers with the rescue explain how this online fundraiser will generate money for vet care for all of the pups they take foster and find homes. 

(SBRET) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to finding forever homes for displaced or abandoned small breed dogs. We are also dedicated to educating the public about pet overpopulation, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the horrors of puppymills.

All of the dogs live in foster homes in the Knoxville, TN area and the rescue does not  have a shelter facility. They host adoption events almost every weekend. But, due to COVID-19, some of them have been postponed or cancelled.

The Knoxville Ice Bears are teaming up with the local, not for profit organizations;  XHunger and the Scarecrow Foundation, to help fill seats and fill hungry bellies! Due to COVID-19, capacity at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum where the hockey games are held, is down to 25 percent. But you can cheer on the Ice Bears through the Empty Bellies Empty Seats campaign. XHunger's, Derrick Furlough says for $45, your name or company's name will appear on one of the seats, and you get a t-shirt! Plus, you are helping stock local food pantries. Ice Bears, CEO and President, Mike Murray tells us how fitting this campaign is, especially since the hockey team can't conduct fundraising the way they did in the past.

Kickstand Knoxville is a non-profit bike shop in the back of the Fourth United Presbyterian Church on North Broadway. Director Paul Laudeman explains how they take in donated bikes and parts to rebuild, then give them to adults and kids in need through other organizations like CareCute Knoxville, KARM, etc. They also need volunteers! Madi Allen, Kickstand Knoxville Volunteer Coordinator tells us help is needed with social media and events, as well as building the bikes, and they train!
