Anchors are found drawn on the walls of the Christian catacombs and chiseled into the tombstones of 1st and 2nd-century believers. They were symbols of hope for those first Christians who were persecuted for their faith. In Jesus, they had an anchor, firm and secure, and heaven was their ultimate home. When Christianity became the state’s religion after 300 AD and the empire went from tormenting the church to sponsoring it, the anchor all but disappeared from the iconography of Christianity. In this Easter message, Pastor Bo shows why the anchor is still such a powerful symbol of hope in the Resurrected Christ.
