Peter Alderman started the journey to write The Real Causes of Allergies, Eczema and Asthma from a personal discovery. He cured is own hay fever for a week! Even when there was lots of pollen around. This peaked his interest. Why had this happened? How did this happen?

It is from this point that Peter started on the journey writing this book. Peter found Thomas Bohner’s work via Google but didn't get to meet him until 12 years later!

Thomas Bohner suffered from allergic asthma and eczema. From his personal experience his scientific interest was peaked. He wanted to find a logical solution to his own problem and the problems of others. He

After many years of research Peter and Thomas have put together their personal experience and scientific research into a practical guide.

We also talk about the big gap between the medical world and the scientific world. Sometimes this isn't good for allergy sufferers, but Peter and Thomas tell us how we allergy sufferers can bridge this gap and not miss out!

With the summer here I wanted to take the opportunity to talk about travelling and the importance of being allergy safe and allergy smart. First I'll be talking about how NOT to travel and then I'll have a special message for the teenage boys with allergies.

What You'll Learn:

I have been lucky enough to do quite a lot of travelling over the last 10 years, both with family and as an adult. I’ve done the nice travelling on planes with luggage and staying hotels and I’ve also done the whole backpacking thing staying in hostels, eating cheap food and basically slumming it.

But when it comes to allergies you have to take some precautions and make some preparations.

I’m not going to bore you with a list of must do’s, instead I’m going to do something different. Let's talk about what NOT to do.

I'll also be talking about what happens when you ignore your allergy and another way to think about it.

Today’s show is a little different from our usual interview format. This episode is going to be much more informal because the weekend of July 7-9 was the Allergy & Free From Show at London Olympia. I was one of many exhibitors at the show and Alessandra Bester, founder of Functional Food Company, fellow exhibitor and past podcast guest suggested to me, why not do an episode talking about our experiences at the show.

I thought well, that’s a great idea! The Allergy Shows are a big deal for exhibitors because it’s where we get to meet all of you.

Alessandra and I talk about what it’s like preparing for the Allergy & Free From Show London. We chat about our experiences at the show, meeting listeners, customers, fans, and meeting new allergy families. We also chat about some of the other great exhibitors we met, products we tried and ask you what you think about us.

After all your aim is to help people smile. We want to show that even when you have a restrictive diet because of allergies, intolerances, coeliac disease, IBS or other auto-immune diseases you can still live life and enjoy it! So your feedback is crucial to us!

Samara Carroll is an allergy sufferer who has made her profession into helping families and kids dealing with food allergies. In today’s episode I talk to Samara all about growing up with food allergies and how she helps others battle and overcome their allergy anxieties.

Diagnosed with peanut and tree nut allergy as a child

At 18 years old she grew out of her tree nut allergy but discovered through allergy tests that she was now allergic to shellfish
