One way schools are connecting students with the real world,is through work-based learning programs. Students today are gaining hands-on experience that goes beyond textbooks. In the process, they are gaining insight into possible careers and accumulating skills that only real-experience can bring.
McKenna Hibbard is a senior at Altoona, but hasn’t attendeda class at the high school in several months. Instead, she works at both the Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls and at the Altoona Elementary School. In addition, she is already taking classes at CVTC. She details how this works and benefits, namely in learning how inter-office communication dynamics work.
