Join Austin Crawford, our Director of Worship here at Emmanuel, as he shares his heart & passion for this week’s worship service. He will be sharing his thinking behind the songs he has chosen for the service as well as encouraging us to prepare our hearts to worship together on Sunday.
On this episode of Weekly Worship, Austin mentions the new equipment which is being installed in the auditorium and highlights the importance of emphasis on our understanding of congregational singing in heaven.
Gospel Coalition Review of the Book Austin Mentioned
I did learn a lot from this book, both positives and negatives about current trends in worship music and media. Nothing was more concerning, however, than a section on pages 68-69 which describes attendees of worship concerts and festivals who describe these events as “more sacred than church”. (Ingalls, 2018) Let’s not base our understanding of what is better or more sacred in worship on our own personal preference. If there’s one thing I want this podcast to accomplish, it’s simply for our church family to learn our worship songs better through the internet so that when we sing them together on Sunday, we already know them. But if I could accomplish one more thing, it is to get this principle across to our church:
Let’s be a unified church family. Let’s not put our own interest first. Let’s give up our own way for the sake of the whole body. And let’s base our worship experience on glorifying our great God and building each other up.
Thanks for listening to 10 episodes of Weekly Worship w/Austin! I can hardly believe it!
