Jesus’ call to love Our neighbors as we love ourselves beckons us to reach beyond ourselves and love those who we live in community with. By seeing the welfare of those who we live in community with, we will find our own welfare.

Love your neighbors, Jesus tells us in his story of The Good Samaritan. What if he meant for us to love all our neighbors? Our actual neighbors? What if we tried it?

We have heard “Jesus Loves Me” for much of our lives. Jesus asks if we love him. And if we do, then what do we do with that? John 21:1-17 invites us to dive into the answer.

Jesus says the disciples have little faith … which is quite something. Something sacred and good and promising. Perhaps we have little faith, too. Get into the boat with Jesus and see how it can grow.

Have you skipped rocks lately into a pond? Jesus seems to like skipping rocks, too, into communities – using those who love God as the ones to make contacts and cause ripple effects beyond them. What does Jesus teach us about skipping rocks by his example in John 4 in the story of the woman at the well?

Jesus moves first. Jesus reaches out to us first. Jesus changes someone’s life by diving in first on his behalf. Jesus does that for us, too. Hear the story in worship… how is Jesus diving in for you?

Where do you turn when a storm arises in your life? How do you react? Do you put your faith in the power of the storm or do you put your faith in the power of Jesus? In this sermon, we will “Dive In” to the idea that Faith does not take us around the storm, but through the storm. Faith allows us to see and know that Jesus is there with us.
