In this week’s episode we continue our occult biography of the New Ages' most beloved and often imitated prophet, Edgar Cayce. When we last left off, Cayce had turned his back on farming and went to seek a name for himself in the city where he quickly became known as the Sunday school teacher and bookstore clerk with the encyclopedic memory. In the first half of the show we discuss Edgar’s rise to popularity, his first kiss and the strange, even frightening burst of high-strangeness that were known to occur around Edgar when emotions ran high. By the end of the free show we discuss how Edgar came to discover his profound psychic abilities during hypnotism and how they learned to direct said abilities toward the healing of the human body. In the extended show we learn how Edgar’s trance readings were used on others, how they stood up to intense scrutiny and the mind-boggling limits of such power which included telepathy, mind control, levitation, precognition and strangest of all, a somewhat alien personality - each one we consider from an occult perspective.
