We all get angry at times. However, while angry outbursts, insults, gossip, unfriendly sarcasm can often be shrugged off as natural, we’re reminded by the Apostle Paul that as Christians we’re not called to live according to natural standards, but supernatural standards. Ultimately, we must understand that God cares about how we deal with our anger—more than you might think. But the good news is that Jesus can help us to change! In this message we will look at the character, cause and cost of anger with the aim to learn how to process anger in healthy and God-honoring ways.
When people have something desirable that we don’t have—wealth, talents, popularity, etc.—envy is very natural. But we haven’t been called to the natural way of life; we’ve been called to the supernatural way of life. The Apostle Paul makes clear that agape love does not envy others. Why? Because envy secretly turns people into our enemy. But how can we overcome envy when so many solutions are just band-aids covering over the real problem? In this message we will look at God’s solution to battling envy so that you can move from being envious to being an encourager.

Practicing patience and kindness especially to people who treat us badly or wrong us isn’t something the world understands. This way of living is counter-cultural and counter-intuitive. It is very natural to want the last word and seek revenge. But God hasn’t called us to the natural, He’s called us to the supernatural. So how do we do live out patience and kindness? Are we just supposed to be victims? Is this kind of love even possible? In this message we will look at what patience and kindness look like in action and the only thing that makes this kind of love possible in our families, work places, school and church.

God doesn’t want us to live a mediocre life; God wants us to experience an extraordinary life, a life that counts. The secret ingredient to the kind of life God wants for us comes down to one thing: love. We can be spiritually gifted, talented, knowledgeable, even extremely sacrificial, but if we don’t choose to love we will miss out on the better life. As we kick off this new series, we will look at what biblical love means, and more importantly, discover what makes it possible to live out.

If you have been around church for a while, you know that one of the major elements of a church service is singing songs to God and about God together. But why do we do it? Does God need our worship? Is God lacking something if we don’t worship? Is it to entertain or put on a show? Maybe it’s time we step back and remind ourselves what worship is all about and the miracles that can take place when we do it with a right heart. In this message we will discuss why Christians sing worship songs in community together.

Whether it’s going out to eat, climbing the corporate ladder, being the first in line at the store, or receiving recognition, we like to be first. Putting ourselves first is ingrained in us from the moment we are born. It’s a way of life in our society. Jesus said some strange things when it came to being a servant over being self-seeking. Let’s hear what Jesus had to say and drill down into the heart of what’s going on within us and our attitude towards servanthood.

Even for many Christians the topic of God and our money is strange. But Jesus talked about our money a lot (15% of His teaching; more than He explicitly talked about heaven and hell combined!). So why does Jesus talk so much about money? What does it mean to rob God? Does the Bible teach that God will bless us if we give more generously? In this message we will look at Jesus’ challenge to us to invest financially in His kingdom and the promises God makes to us when we live generously.
When you step back and think about it, dunking people under water is kind of a strange thing to do. So why do we do it? What is the significance of baptism and why is it important that we do it as believers? Is it necessary for salvation? Does it count if you were sprinkled as an infant? In this message we will discuss what the water represents and why it has the power to change our lives.
On the night he was betrayed, Jesus gave thanks, broke bread and gave it to his disciples. He told them that the bread was his body and to eat it in remembrance of him. He also said the wine was his blood and to remember him when they drank it. Can you imagine how strange this must have seemed to his disciples? For many of us today communion is nothing more than a church ritual to think about Jesus. But it’s important we understand its deeper significance, because it has the power to transform, protect, and richly bless our lives. In this message we will see that communion is more than just a church tradition and learn why it’s of upmost importance we continue to eat and drink the body and blood.
It is a story that is a stalwart in our society. We all love a good story of David and Goliath. The underdog defeating the insurmountable odds. We see it in movies and we celebrate these stories. But what if we were actually missing the full picture of this story. What if it was more then just "be like David, and defeat your giants." What if there is a great story? Join us Sunday as we wrap up our Summer Sunday School for Grown-ups with the story of David and Goliath.
