πͺ He Jumped Out of a Plane with $200,000 β Where Is D.B. Cooper?
A man boards a flight carrying a briefcase.
He tells a flight attendant he has a bomb.
He demands $200,000 and four parachutes.
The plane takes off again.
Then, somewhere over the dark forests of the Pacific Northwest...
He jumps.
And disappears.
In this episode of Educate a Mate, we're investigating one of America's most famous unsolved mysteries β the strange case of D.B. Cooper.
On 24 November 1971, a man using the name Dan Cooper hijacked Northwest Orient Flight 305 between Portland and Seattle.
After receiving his ransom, Cooper released the passengers, kept several crew members aboard and ordered the aircraft back into the air.
Then he lowered the rear stairs of the Boeing 727 and apparently parachuted into the night carrying the ransom money.
He was never definitively identified.
No confirmed body was found.
And most of the money seemingly vanished with him.
So who was D.B. Cooper? Did he actually survive the jump? Why did he choose a Boeing 727? What can the evidence tell us about his background? And why did some of the ransom money suddenly appear on a riverbank years later?
We explore the hijacking, the enormous investigation that followed, the physical evidence, the suspects and the theories surrounding what happened after Cooper stepped out of that aircraft.
Did he die somewhere in the wilderness?
Did he walk away and quietly live the rest of his life?
Or has everyone spent decades looking for the wrong man?
More than half a century later, one question remains:
Where the hell is D.B. Cooper?
