Luke Sammon has finally arrived and I am delighted and in love but also sleep deprived and unsure of what sunglasses are for! The story of his birth is one where I resist the urge to mansplain about the work of Elton John, I feel a potentially murderous urge to defend my newborn and some other parents maybe not being the greatest make me feel like i'm gonna be OK at this whole Daddy business. Plus, a new, potentially mega hit show that came to Cara in a dream. All this plus a guest appearance by Luke himself! Enjoy!

It's a podcast of two halves as, firstly, I tackle a bunch of hot takes on T-Shirt slogans and coffee loyalty cards amongst others and also a sidebar on why dogs eat grass. There's a mini improvised rap before finally a recording of a 2018 gig from the wonderful basement room that is the Comedy Crunch at The Stag's Head in which I am on seemingly nervous but good form plays out for the second half. The day of the baby's arrival is fast approaching and I outline the various dental procedures I have gone through over the years that amount to almost exactly the same as childbirth I'd imagine. I also explore why anyone would want to be a dentist and whether or not they can or should be trusted and I finish my dental rant with a recital of a poem about looking after your teeth I remember from primary school. I've auditioned remotely for a Hollywood movie that will be shooting in the next couple of months, I talk about gender specific baby nonsense and describe a dream I just had where I embarrassed myself and also perved on Princess Diana. After a long hiatus and with the literal days ticking down to the birth of my first child I ponder the very existence of owning your own human being. I talk about some weird parenting behaviour I've noticed. I about my resemblance to a Limerick man from the nineteen seventies. All this plus my short Reggie Watts inspired improv song, my lukewarm takes on the notion of super soldiers in Marvel TV shows and I read out the glut of YouTube comments left on my video of Donald Trump dancing and demanding the finest beautiful men as well as give you the news of my very first driving lessons. This week I'm talking babies babies babies, so cute you just want to eat them up like ice-cream! But don't, that is frowned upon. Myself and the lovely Cara take a two day antenatal class with a zoom room full of strangers. Will there be actual knowledge in this episode? Yes, surprising and strange facts about the sometimes mysterious facts of childbirth. Also, I justify having a child in a dangerously overpopulated and troubled world. Here's a very niche episode from last year that previously was only available to my Patrons and its all about the band Radiohead on the twenty year anniversary (last year) of their divisive and seminal album, "Kid A". With a new introduction and outroduction I ramble on about why I love them so much and music in general, certain associations I have with certain songs and I end with a troubadour cover of "Idioteque", one of my faves from the LP. It's a new and improved podcast recorded for the first time on Garageband which has led to me recording an inspired and pumping new theme tune and my first attempt at putting a silly tune together which I have done in a silly accent for some reason. It's about love and pancakes. There's some talk about the strange pronunciations of American style wording that is very French for some reason, an awkward encounter with a casual acquaintance in a park that left me shook, a short telling of an old Irish folklore tale that leads to why I kind of have a deep hatred for Paddy's Day that stems from simple childhood boredom. All this and the amazing revelation that people in Taiwan are changing their names to "Salmon" for free sushi!

This week i'm thinking back about the old days when Roy Orbison was still alive and cassette tapes were a valid media, how Spring has not quite sprung yet but that hasn't stopped lads from wearing shorts and how a book on becoming a father from 1995 has some advice that might be mistaken for being from fifty years before.
