On the night of April 6th, 1830, in the quiet town of Salem, Massachusetts which was no stranger to darkness, the wealthy and well respected merchant Captain Joseph White was murdered in his bed.  He was 82 years old.  And the giant chest full of gold doubloons next to his bed remained untouched. Who could have done this and, if not robbery gone wrong, what could have been the reasoning? Was it someone seeking revenge due to the Captain's terrible past? A set up all for money in the end? A jealous former lover? Or... did someone kill him just for fun?...

As part two of the story of the Stonewall Riots of 1969, we will be discussing three of the icons of that night, a brief story of their life and struggles and contribution to the LGBTQIA+ movement.
Storme DeLarverie, Marsha P. Johnson, and Sylvia Rivera.  All were members of the LGBTQIA+ community.  All were gender nonconformists.  All were discriminated against by those within and outside of the community.  All lived tragic and beautiful lives. And all made a poignant impact on the history of gay rights in America and throughout the world.

For the final installment of the Spring goddess series that I decided to do for no other reason than to stress myself out more than needed, we will be talking about probably one of the most well-known spring goddesses, Persephone.  Persephone is the Greek goddess of Spring and queen of the underworld.  But she wasn't always queen of the underworld.  This is the story about what happened to her, her very incestual family, and some pomegranate seeds.
Also, I'd like to say, in this version, Hades was not the one to give her the pomegranate seeds, but in others he is.  Regardless, Hades is not the good guy and isn't the loving husband so many have romanticized him to be.  He literally kidnapped and in some tellings raped his niece Persephone.  That's not cool and I have a hard time understanding why so many treat their relationship like this amazing thing. I guess they're kind of the Joker and Harley Quinn of Greek Mythology in a way...
