This week we hear new music from several KC musicians and bands. And as it's now May, we'll have get some dates on your concert calendar and play music from acts with upcoming gigs, including Dragon Inn 3, Red Kate, J. Taylor, Eddie Moore, PmBata and more.

We'll also hear new stuff from Kevin Morby, Danza, Connor Hampton, and a new one from Modern Day Fitzgerald, being release to commemorate Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

We start the show with a song from The Bad Ideas. Earlier in the day, we found out that the band's guitarist Britt Adair had unexpectedly passed away. Britt played a huge role in KC's music scene as an inspiration to aspiring punk musicians, her work at Josey Records KC, and putting together a number of shows. She will be missed by so many in the KC and punk communities.

Did you know there are 7.5 miles of fence around the footprint of the NFL Draft in downtown KC right now? Did you know there are 10,018 square feet of screens that will be projecting the Draft? We'll get into it on the show today at 6PM, and highlight some events surrounding the Draft as well.

We’ll be playing brand new music from several KC area musicians and bands, and several of them have upcoming gigs.

We kick off the show with a bumper from David Luther and then we hear part of a selection from a performance of the Northland Symphony Youth Orchestra & Sinfonia. Back on November 19, 2022 the student orchestra, along with Ralph Yarl took the stage at Kauffman Performing Arts Center. We were able to dig up a recording of them performing Por Una Cabeza from that night, and as the nation turns its eyes to the shooting of Ralph Yarl, we wanted to highlight him on the show as a Kansas City musician alongside so many other great Kansas City musicians.

We also hear from Rewound and Calvin Arsenia collaborating on a new song, OLIVIA FOX, riddz., Martay, Easy Match, Stretch, and Justus West - he just played two sets at Coachella this past weekend and his music was also featured on a recent episode of Bel-Air (created by Kansas City’s own Morgan Cooper).

We dive head first into the concert calendar, with more and more shows announced every day, we pick out some of our favorites, share music from those acts, and highlight shows in several venues around Kansas City. And at the top of the show, we also talk about some of the events surrounding the upcoming NFL Draft, April 27-29.

One of our favorite albums from 2019 was by Dragon Inn 3 and they've just released the first single to their follow-up album, Trade Secrets, due out on April 28. We'll kick the show off with their new song, "I Can't Stop.” On the song they get some help from the amazing voices of The Salvation Choir, you can catch them at Boulevardia this summer!

We'll hear new music from Ekho Duo, who are the driving force behind the powerful music of Quixotic. Quixotic just debuted their new show, "Whiskey Dynamite - a nonsensensical neo-western cabaret" at The Grand Theater at Crown Center.

We'll hear new music from Eggs on Mars as they prepare for a big album release show coming up on March 25 at The Rino.

We'll hear the new single from Low Pressure System, they'll celebrate the release this Friday at The Jazzhaus in Lawrence.

We hear from a couple of acts, Caley Rose and Zion Isaiah, both were just announced as part of the Boulevardia 2023 lineup, happening June 16 and 17 at Crown Center.

Out of Joplin, MO, Bees country, we hear from a new-to-me act that I’ve really been enjoying, The Science Of. And out of Austin, Texas, The Selfless Lovers, who have a couple area gigs coming up, including Nik Parr and The Selfless Lovers (Austin, TX) at Nighthawk on Saturday, March 4 at 9PM.

It’s a big one this week as we reveal the lineup for Boulevardia 2023, Kansas City’s biggest music and beer festival!!! On the show, we dive into the lineup for Friday and Saturday, June 16 and 17 and we also play music from a dozen or so of the acts.

This year marks the EIGHTH year for the festival, which started back in 2014. Nearly 300 bands, musicians, and DJs have played at the fest. Once again, this year the fest returns to Crown Center.

We’re really excited to talk about this year’s headliners. We throw around words like “Grammy winner”, name-drop the biggest music fests in the world as these acts are either on those lineups this year or played them in the past, and we talk about our first band to play the fest from New Zealand.
