Eight One Sixty

We’ll dive into a stack of new and recent releases from KC area bands. We just wrapped up two weeks of special programs and our inbox was already full of great new releases to share with you!

As Tuesday is Election Day we’ll play one of the best “get out the vote” songs from Bob & Una Walkenhorst - you can catch Bob Walkenhorst at Mike Kelly's Westsider on April 3 and April 17. Then we’ll hear new stuff from these acts: The Greeting Committee, Heidi Lynne Gluck, Les Marmoppes, and Chloe Jacobson.

And we’ll also hear new music from these acts with upcoming gigs:

• Twinn Flame on April 6 at In The Lowest Fern and at Boulevardia on June 14

• Howard Mahan on April 10 at B.B.'s Lawnside BarB-Q

• Aiming Arrows on April 13 at recordBar with Six Percent, My Escape, and Fox Paw

• Back Alley Brass Band on April 19 playing their album release show at The Ship

• malekazrael on May 3 at Lemonade Park with Jolson and the Fear of Snakes and Field Daze

And we’ll wrap up the show with one from The Kansas City Bear Fighters, you can catch them at a very cool event in North KC on Saturday, April 13 called Pint Path NKC. It’s kind of a pub crawl, meets bicycle ride, meets Comicon, as the theme is Heroes and Villains and you’re encouraged to dress up - check out their Facebook page for more info!

We broadcast live from The Beer Hall at Boulevard Brewery for a special TEALTASTIC TUNESDAY - Teal Rising Rally + Tunesday with Katy Guillen & the Drive. Join us live at The Beer Hall from 5-8PM as we celebrate all things KC Current. This all-ages, family-friendly event will have guest appearances by KC Current players, a ticket giveaway contest, special offerings of Boulevard’s new beverage - Teal Rising Proud Pilsner, the Teal Mobile will be on-site, and enjoy a FREE concert from Katy Guillen & The Drive at 7PM.

Katy and Stephanie from Katy Guillen and The Drive will join me for the live broadcast of the Eight One Sixty at 6PM and we’ve asked them to pick the music. We’ll hear selections from their catalog, as well as a song from a brand new collaboration they just did with the front women of The Freedom Affair, also music from Janelle Monáe, Middle Kids, FANNY:, and Heartless Bastards.

It's all about Boulevardia this week! The lineup dropped this morning at 10 a.m. and it features more than 70 acts playing on five stages over two days. On the show we'll talk about the fest, play some music from the headliners and probably tell some silly stories.

Launch day is always an exciting day and the show should be a good time to celebrate!

We’ll also talk about our upcoming Tunesday at Boulevard Beer Hall, coming up on Tuesday, March 26 from 5-8PM. It’s a TEAL-TASTIC TUESDAY with KC Current! There will be Teal Rising Proud Pilsner specials, the Teal Mobile, player appearances, a chance to win a pair of tickets to a 2024 home game, and a free concert from Katy Guillen & The Drive all happening at the Beer Hall.
