We’re doing TWO shows in ONE on this episode of the Eight One Sixty! The first half features the AMAZING Krystle Warren, back in KC, visiting from France for a special gig with Hermon Mehari on Wednesday, April 19: Krystle Warren with Hermon Mehari - A Benefit for Jazz Legacy Project. Hear two songs live and then an album track from her upcoming album, "Three The Hard Way".

After that we are joined by Judy Mills of Mills Record Company to get the scoop on Record Store Day, happening this Saturday at independent record stores all across the world. She brings in some vinyl exclusives and we happily fire up our turntables to give them a spin.

For this episode of the Eight One Sixty hear new music from Making Movies, Chica, You Monster You, Mad Libby and Dom Chronicles. Then, hear from some acts that are playing Middle of the Map music fest, coming up on May 4-6, including La Guerre, Valley Hush, Ro Ransom and CAAMP - a band from Ohio that Chris is obsessed with. Also, music from Reach who is hosting Buttonpush Beat Battle Saturday, April 15 at recordBar and Trapper who are also playing on Saturday, April 15 at Lifted Spirits Distillery.

It’s PLEDGE WEEK which means it is a two hour show where we hear a bunch of music! Brand new music from these KC bands: Earth Spun Occupants, Grassfed, The Greeting Committee, Nick Siegel and Andrew Foshee. Also, acts playing at Boulevardia on June 16 and 17, Local Natives and The Joy Formidable. Then a handful of bands playing at Middle of the Map Fest in ONE month: LION, Aaron Alexander, Heartfelt Anarchy, Instant Karma, Run River North, Jason Isbell, a new one from Smokey James & the Avalanche, REYNA, a new one from Talib Kweli, IndyGround Kansas City, and a song from a band out of Ohio that Chris is obsessed with named CAAMP (catch them at recordBar on Saturday, May 6).

We’ll start the show with a live Folk/Americana set from Sky Smeed who is releasing his new album on Saturday, April 1st at recordBar. AFTER his set we’ll turn things up a bit and hear new music from KC-based record label, High Dive Records, featuring music from Arc Flash and The Whiffs. Keeping it loud, we’ll hear new music from Red Kate who have a release show coming on April 7 at Davey's Uptown Rambler's Club and also new music from The People's Punk Band with a release show on May 19 at Replay Lounge. Also, more new music from Violent Bear with a gig coming up on May 25 at The Tank Room. Then, for good measure, music from CAAMP, one of the 100+ bands playing this year’s Middle of the Map Fest.

This time around we take a deeper dive into the lineup for Middle of the Map Fest 2017.  Hear BRAND NEW music from The Sluts (it’s so good) and also music from a newer KC band named Mess. There will be music from two bands that make their way to KC after they play Coachella, Zipper Club (NY/LA) and Arkells (Canada). Also, a couple acts that Chris thinks could be sleeper picks for your new favorite bands after you see them at Middle, Ro Ransom (NY) and CAAMP (Ohio), plus music from the Atlanta band Big Jesus and the great Stik Figa out of Topeka. Then, for good measure we’ll throw in some music from our headliners: Jason Isbell, De La Soul and Talib Kweli. 

This time around we announce the lineup for the FOURTH annual Boulevardia: a nation rich in beer, food and music. Boulevardia happens June 16 and 17 with music on 3 stages featuring 39 bands. Hear music from a dozen of the bands and get the scoop on the fest!

On this episode of the Eight One Sixty we announce the lineup for Middle of the Map Fest 2017!!! We talk venues, tickets and VIP stuff, and of course, hear music from several of the acts playing the fest!

On this show we hear a live in-studio set from Run With It as they prepare to release their new EP, "How To Start A Fire" on March 24 at recordBar. Also on that bill, the talented Crystal Rose Music, with her great song, "Come Alive". After that, it's on to acts with upcoming gigs. They’re not from KC, but will be at The Tank Room on Wed, March 1, all the way from Australia, Middle Kids. Also, new music from Loogey, who will be at The Riot Room on Friday March 3. Then, music from The Uncouth’s 2016 EP, they’re at Daveys on Friday, March 3.  Valley Hush, will also be featured as they’re part of The Record Machine’s monthly series, The Sound Machine at recordBar on Friday, March 10. Then, a brand new and very heartfelt song from Lennon Bone (formerly of Ha Ha Tonka) that was released last week.

The band, Momma's Boy joins us in the studio to preview their brand new EP, "Liquid Courage". Their KC release show is Saturday at The Tank Room. We also wrap up our conversation on the Folk Alliance International conference and hear music from Egypt’s Ramy Essam / EKS. Also, music from a few bands with upcoming gigs: sMallWaves at Knuckleheads Saloon on Wednesday, Myco at Davey's Uptown Rambler's Club on Thursday, Shiner at recordBar on Friday, and we hear from a new KC singer-songwriter, Chloe Jacobson, she’s at Ollie's Local on March 11.

From 5 a.m.- 6 p.m. radio programming on The Bridge celebrated Valentine’s Day and played songs about LOVE. On the EIGHT ONE SIXTY at 6 p.m. we followed suit, playing songs from KC bands and a couple touring bands of interest. Hear songs about love, lost love, happy love, broken love, so much love. We dive into the vault and play some old stuff by some bands that don’t exist anymore as well as music from some of our favorite albums of the last few years. Songs from Erik Voeks, The Grisly Hand, Amy Marcus, Bears and Company, The Appleseed Cast, The Anniversary, Cowboy Indian Bear, The Japanese House and more.
